ASU wide receiver N’Keal Harry will work out for the Cardinals on April 20th at ASU, according to a source. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury, GM Steve Keim, president Michael Bidwill and WR coach David Raih are all expected to attend. It will be Harry’s only private workout.

Technically don't they have to "travel" to ASU to do an actual workout? Meetings at team facilities can't be workouts.

Yes if not at ASU maybe at the draft prep facility he was working out at, interestingly the team already hosted him for a private meeting.

Anyone else here notice a possible uptick in the Cardinals' interest in so-called "terretorial" draft picks?

If so, what might be the reasons?

I'm wondering what other prospects you are referring to?

Harry is a legitimately good WR who played with horrible QB play (Manny Wilkins). He needs to learn to run routes though, he's pretty bad right now and has always just relied on beating his opponents on 50/50 ball.

One of the things I think you look for in any good player is whether they have one trait that is a dominant trait. Mike Floyd didn't have a real dominant trait in college and that was his undoing in the pros. Harry plays like a power forward in jump ball situations, much like Fitzgerald did earlier in his career. He's also dynamic with the ball in his hands as evidenced by his multiple long plays over the past few years.

I'm pretty bullish on Harry, and I think drafting him is a good move since he's an Arizona native and is really good friends with Christian Kirk.

When focused, Floyd was a very good WR, better than average with a lot of pro traits which won us some games... problem, he was a alcoholic which became his dominant trait

I would argue he was a blend of good traits, but didn't have one stand out part of his game that made him stick in the NFL. His off the field problems were his undoing, which was actually his biggest red flag coming into the draft.

The only other player that comes to mind is Kirk. Although you would think that if a player is drafted by his "hometown" team there would be a sense of loyalty, which in todays society is almost unheard of. I like N'Keal like many on this board and think him and Kirk would be a solid one two punch for years to come. Having Fitz to mentor them both at this point in his career and early on in theirs is extremely valuable as well.

I think what Jeff has noticed is an overall interest, hence the vet signing of Suggs, Reed and Hundley who all have Arizona ties, along with Kirk and now Harry getting interest... which makes me curious to confirm this even more if they just might take a flyer on DT Wren late in the draft

I guess Kirk counts as a valley guy, but I think he was drafted on merit more than his ties to Arizona. I haven't seen any evidence of the Cardinals favoring local guys in the past.

I know people at ASU have said that Harry is the best player to come out of ASU in a very long time, and I agree with that sentiment.

Like I said above, I don't think it's an Arizona connection. Each player obviously has merits that fit what the team wanted. Suggs...one of the best pass rushers of all time. Brooks Reed is a jack of all trade back up type who will help off the bench. Hundley has experience in spread offenses from his time at UCLA.

I agree that the team appears to be weighting past Arizona connections. It could be coincidence but it also could be trying to rebuild any fan connections lost during the last two seasons.

Or we just have more NFL quality players coming out of Arizona nowadays and some just happened to become available at the same time.
