This is of interest to the Dbacks.

If the Braves win the WC, then the Phillies will open with either the Dbacks or Brewers, depending on who has the worse record.

If the Cardinals win the WC, the Dbacks will open with the Brewers.

If the Giants win the WC, the Dbacks would open with the Brewers

If the Cardinals win the WC, the Dbacks will open with the Phillies, regardless.

If the Giants win the WC, the Dbacks would open with the Brewers

That is incorrect. If the Cardinals win the wild card, they will play the Phillies.

So it's not setup where the #1 seed plays the playoff team with the fewest wins (making them the #4 seed)?

Good news, the Braves lost again and the Cards won, so the lead is now one game for Atlanta.

So isnt this whole if the wild card team is in the same division as the team you are set to play so you dont have to play them rule really punishing another team here like the d-backs if the braves make it?

+1. Also, the Cards have owned the Phillies in the regular season. I know it doesn't mean anything now, but this team might actually match up very well with the Phils over 5 games.

I would love to the Phillies eliminated by a team from west of the Mississippi. Even just west of the Mississippi.

I heard some ESPN talking head (can't remember which one) saying that the Phils starters are great, but they throw alot of strikes in the zone (as opposed to getting hitters to chase out of the zone). He said that if any group of hitters could jump on these types of pitches, it would be the St. Louis Cardinals.
