umm... we were in the Superbowl and 2 1/2 minutes away from winning it....

There is a HUGE difference between that and being 2-14...

That has nothing to do with the price of tea in China at this point. Apparently, Kurt's commitment to AZ is only as deep as the contract that is in front of him; otherwise, he would have signed by now. I'm not saying its all about the money, but if Kurt is serious about staying, why hasn't he signed?

Its not out of the question that another team will money whip him. I'm looking at the cap figures for other teams who need a QB and I can see a team feasibly offering him 13-14 mil per year.

One of those teams is Kansas City, where his old OC is running the fort.....I can see it happening.

Kansas City? No way, no how does he leave here for KC. I don't care if the Chiefs named Brenda the head coach and gave him 20 million a year. He's not going to want to spend the last two years of his career getting his ass kicked behind a garbage offensive line and on a team that is battling the Raiders for the last place spot in the AFC West.

I'm gonna withhold until Warner either re-signs, retires or signs on somewhere else before making any premature comments.

I'm going to go ahead and say we'll be fine with our without Warner. I'd like him back for a nice price, but not for what he wants. I'd rather use $14 million and invest it in a few solid players.

If I could get a guarntee that we would be productive with that 14 Million in Cap money I would be ALL FOR saying see ya to Kurt...

MEANING, If we could take that money and resign Dansby to a nice long contract, rework Boldin's deal (giving him 4-5 million more from that money having Boldin up to around 8-9) and perhaps bring in a couple veterans (ala Derrick Brooks, Cato June) I would MUCH rather have that then Warner....

But there is no guarntee the Cards would use that money, so I'd like to have Warner back....

Although Cards' fans will be put on suicide watch if Warner leaves this season, we will be fine with Leinart. I'm sure this is why the FO is not stretching the budget to sign Warner. If Leinart weren't on this team, guaranteed Graves and co. would have already thrown out the $14 mil/year contract.

agree. But if they believe this, lets get #7 under center in game one next year.

I know what I think gives the Cardinals the best chance of winning this year. I do not know if I'm right. The farther you go into the future the harder it is to predict a course of action.
Some of us think that the Cardinals should stick to an approx 10 mil per year offer to KW, some think they are cheap for not paying 14 mil, and others think they would be stupid to pay anything over 8 mil. Some people think KW is being greedy and others believ he has been disrespected.
My point is that no matter how adamant we are in our opinions, none of really know what is best. I think I know what I want to have happen with this situation but all I really know is that I want to go to another Super Bowl and win it. Some people think that can't happen without KW, and some think it can. I would rather be wrong with my opinions and achieve success than to be right and lose.

I believe most people on this board feel the same way, even the ones who are 100% convinced they are right.

Why throw Kurt away to get a running game and a defense. First we are pretty decent in both..when used right. A running ganme and defense??? there are 25 teams with 1000 yd rushers....Running is overrated. Pittsburgh had an average running game at best. BEN won that game for them.

I get sick of asking this question...But what in the heck do you fans think...thinking Lienart will take us to the Super Bowl??? We have had way better QB's take us to 6-10. ALot of you guys should have apologized to me and eat crow. Go look at the abuse I took for constantly saying Warner would lead us to the promise land!!! Go back and see my posts stating what occured.

If Warner leaves....We will be lucky to win 7 games...PERIOD. And before you laugh...Go back and re read my preseason posts. Warner FITS our system!!! QUick throws and reads defenses....We are exciting...we made the Super Bowl. What is 2 MILLION in this case...really??? I mean pay the man and SAY Thank You Kurt for being the MAN of THE YEAR...and helping the community....Oh by the way thanks for taking us to a place where only movies, dreams and prayers have taken us. Please excuse us for offering 12 million when 14 million would have done it. Excuse us for knowing no other team may give that to you...but Principle is more important than saying I told you so. Boldin is right...we hit below the belt...and we dont care. Pay Q and pay Warner...Our defense DID not win the playoffs....our offense did. We have enough money to sign most our core players..and try it again.

Warner deserves the money. He played with 1 arm last year...and didnt miss a game in a year and half. He listened and cut his turnovers in half. Do the right thing...Pay the man. ANd if he leaves...I will come back and say told you so...It is the Cardinal way!

Alot of things happened right for the Cards to make the Super Bowl and Kurt Warner isn't the only reason we did. He was part of it and many other players along with Giants losing to Philly allowing us a home championship game helped us achive this. To think Matt Leinart can't take us to the promised land is plain lunacy, the guy has talent. Warner is a great player and a better man, but to think the Cards hopes of winning the Super Bowl are all on his shoulders is naive. I hope he is back but will not lose sleep if he isn't.

There is just so much a QB is worth. 12 mil is a lot of money. That would put him near the top of all qb's. I would love him to sign but it takes two to tango. The Cards came up from 8-10 to 12. We are going to need the money to take care of the rest of the team. I guess he is not in it for the glory(plus 12mil) he is just in it for the money and 12 is not enough.

I remember just a week ago he said that he would do all he can to get Q signed. Who knows what our record would be without Kurt. What is he going to do if his next team has no Q , no Fitz, no Breaston. Will he last the season. can anyone see him playing outdoors on the east coast? That's not his best bet for making through the season.

So does he stay out west ? 49rs? Cold. DEnver does not need him and it's cold. Maybe the cowfellons? It's going to be of the two Lienart throwing to the very best or Warner.

We will see

I can honestly say I have a wait and see approach to this whole mess. I'm not ready to pile on this offseason like I have in offseasons past. We have a coach that has a plan and so far its worked out 8-8 in his first year, 12-8 in his second and a last minute Super Bowl loss.

It'd be great to keep the whole team intact and just make a few upgrades here and there but its looking less and less likely.

I have faith in Leinart, the guy is talented--my only concern with him is durability. I have less faith in our running game to be completely honest.

The defense needs to improve, hopefully part of that improvement will come with new coaches and their scheme.

As little as my regard is usually for RGs skills in negotiations, I think Kurt and his agent are to blame here. Unless the numbers being bandied about in the media are grossly inflated, his demands are completely unfair and should not be met.

Were I in charge of the Cards FO, this is what I would do: Get together the best possible offer we would ever offer Kurt. Make sure that offer is not ridiculously high because, believe it or not, we don't have to re-sign him to be successful. Tell Kurt and his agent that this is the offer on the table. If he wishes to accept the offer at any point he will be welcomed back with open arms. Also let them know that if, at some point in FA we find a couple of really good players that we want to bring in, or if we get an extension figured out for one of our guys, and if that money would proclude Warner's contract, that we're ready to move on. Let them know we won't wait around for him to sign before we conduct business. Unfortunately I don't think we'll do that, but I hope that's how our FO approaches the situation.

Exactly. Give them a window and put them on the spot. There is no need to let a 38 year old QB decide how active you are in the offseason. Graves is wasting his time if he is "negotiating" with Warner and his agent. Give them a number and make them act. We have greater things to worry about.

Any chance this delay is to further inspire the FO to take care of Boldin? The KC idea seems remote but the Haley connection certainly makes if feasible. Boldin, Warner, Gonzo, LJ and Bowe? Sounds pretty formidable to me(if we're playing the what if game).

I'd certainly like them both to be back but it's more likely that Q will be the catalyst for both he and Warner not being on the Cardinals next year.

So a QB with no playoff experience is ok with you for next year?:mulli:

IAWarnerFan, we both love Kurt. We have a more than fair offer out there for him. For a guy who was not sure he was even going to play this year (ha ha) and for a guy that said he wanted to stay in Arizona, the tone sure has changed.

Hopefully, this is mostly his agent, but if Kurt thinks he can do better elsewhere, then I am fine with a QB with no playoff experience. If every team had to have a qb with playoff experience, I'm afraid there would a lot of teams vacant at that position.:)

I think whats really going on here is that both sides are having trouble deciding Warners market value and they're going to let the free market decide. What we end up paying Warner will be simular to what other teams offer him. The Cards feel he's worth 8 to 10 mil and Warner and his AGENT feel its more like 14 mil. We'll soon find out how much were going to have to shell out but I'm fairly certain Warner will be a Card next year.
