Every time Leinart comes in for mop up duty and gets yanked for inaccurate limp wristed passes, people come to his defense and talk about how hard it is to come off the bench cold with a big lead.

I hope Matt plays well, but if not; I don't want to hear any excuses.

1. The Rams pass D has been terrible today (and alll season)
2. Leinart has some of the best receivers in the league to throw to
3. The O line has been blocking well of late and the Cards are running the ball well so the D cant just pin their ears back and send the house for Leinart
4. Matt Leinart has had 4 years to prepare for this

We see backups come off the bench in the NFL and play well almost every year in the NFL.

Win or lose, this is on you Matt

Agreed. I want a score on this drive or I'm starting the "Draft Jevan Snead in the 2nd Round" bandwagon right here......

Matt blows. No excuse for only throwing to your RB's and check downs and constantly overthrowing and underthrowing the ball.

He is playing like a deer caught in headlights.

It is so obvious that Matt is not the guy for the future of this team. He always throws off his back foot and is just terribly inaccurate. I was so happy when he got drafted but he is not the guy.

Leinart is playing scared and I don't like it. I understand him not wanting to blow the lead, but this is too much.

I agree Shane. I have very little hope for the guy.

And I can't believe how many people on the board make excuses for him

As his biggest advocate, if he gives them a chance in this game to win, I am done with him. You couldn't ask for better circumstances.

10/14 for 74 yards and zero turnovers. I think that's exacty what you'd ask for out your backup QB. Plus a big 3rd down conversion to Doucet. But go ahead and blast away.

Leinart was playing not to lose, but I think the play calling was intentionally conservative. Also, the run game disappeared in the 2nd half

yes. A truly impressive performance. Did you see the comparative stats that fox ran on Warner vs. Leinart on their five respective drives?

This team has alot of weapons and one 20 yard pass to Early Doucet does not make up for an impotent half of football

THat's what you're supposed to do in that situation IMHO. the calls were conservative for a reason, anything but a turnover.

That play to Early wrapped it up, he certainly isn't on the same level as Warner but when he HAD to make a play, he did, and not an easy one.

Homeys - there is nobody who has more invested in Matt Leinart then I do.

But he had every weapon, against a bad team, and stll couldn't put together a drive. Plus he looked scared and missed at least 4 throws.

It pains me to say it but I will. The need for a QBOF is alive and well.

Wow you have some big ol #7 goggles on.

Yea, numbers tell the whole story.
No i don't. You guys have unrealistic expectations for a backup QB entering the middle of a game. The Cards HAD to tone the offense, escpecially with a 21-3 lead. Do you realize a backup QB gets about 5% of the reps during the week of practice? He did what any backup QB should do. Bring home a win and don't make key mistakes that could cost you the game. Did you really think he was going to throw for 150 yard an 2 TD's in the 2nd half. Get back to reality.

I'm not sold on Matt at all, but Becht's fumble and the playcall by whiz on 3rd and 1 were not going to help Matt develope any sustained drives. I'll have to see a replay, but Matt's big third down pass to Doucet looked like a desperation play and was more luck.

Exactly Russ. On the most pressure packed play of the game he came through. That's what I remember from him in college. Even when he wasn't great, he always performed well when the game was on the line.

Obviously the offense bogged down in the 2nd half but again, when Matt had to make a play he did. IN fact he did twice, Becht fumbled on the first one in FG range to put the game out of reach. 2nd time, he hit Doucet.

He didn't look great by any stretch of the imagination but we won the game.

It is what you ask for from your back up....not your Quarterback of the future.

Umm... he is hier apparent to Warner. This is EXACTLY what you don't expect from such a QB especially against a terrible team like Rams.

Well, he was about to get sacked and had to throw the ball. But, Doucet was open and he did get the ball to him. It's not what I would call a desperation play. His first "pass" of the game, now THAT was a desperation play.
