Keep in mind that the next time you have a company event if an employee has been drinking and has an auto accident, there is a very good chance of your company being sued.

I am not saying that it's right, I am just saying that is the way things are.

True. I am not a lawyer, but usually a person in senior management picks up the tab and then it is submitted back to the company for reimbursement. I suppose if something happened, the company could refuse to reimburse a charge and contend it was not a company sponsored event.

Mine does at every company function.

Any company buying the booze at work functions is just begging for a lawsuit. In the old days, this was commonplace, not any more. It only takes one person getting into a drunk driving accident, and lawsuits start flying.

My work used to provide, but now they only pay for food, you're on your own for the booze.

we setup cocktail mixers all the time, for employees and clients - always open bar

we also have company picnics, parties, etc where they ration the drinks - usually only a couple per person

back to the point, it does seem like an overreaction though

I agree it's overreaction. MLB quickly put the rule in place after the incident with the drunk driving player that died (can't remember the name). The players are grown men.

If there weren't so many "grown men" that are stupid jagoffs and get plastered and then drive, everyone could enjoy a beer or two in peace.

That speaks to all of society, not just the NFL. Many things are ruined by just a few morons.

Indeed. And, I was speaking on a broader scale. But, the NFL players can find morons within their own ranks to blame too.

lets treat all our players like little children who know no better to protect the league image.
Like Children? Athletes have plenty of personal free time to drink on their own... I would say, its nice to see the NFL catch up to the rest of American companies on this issue...

I made two separate comments. Your company used to by kegs, they no longer do, there's a pattern here.

And the :BIM:...

They still do, last time I heard. I just don't work there anymore.
