Although the defense played a very decent game in Seattle, the lack of leadership on the offense showed in a pretty big way Sunday. The paltry 3 points put up by the offense in no way could cover the defense.

Campbell and Foote have been able to overcome the leadership losses of Abraham, and Dockett, but the loss of both Palmer and Fitzgerald on the offense might be too much for Stanton and Veldheer to account for. The fact that Ellington is getting more beat up each game only adds to the offensive woes. When you add a pretty stellar job by the Seattle defensive secondary, the 19 points put up by Seattle's offense was too much to overcome.

Still, Stanton was able to connect with John Brown for three nice completions, one of which was spectacular by Brown. The drop by Jaron Brown in the end zone, coupled by the smothering of Michael Floyd by Richard Sherman, pretty much snuffed out any flame remaining in our passing game. Not having Fitz to energize the offense with his tough 3rd down catches, and his on-field persona, began to become glaring, especially as Ellington wore down to become pretty much a non-threat on the ground.

Getting some spark and continuity into the offense is going to be the big job for head coach Bruce Arians over the next several games. Hopefully Fitzgerald will be available sooner rather than later, as without his leadership, it appears that Stanton might be over-matched when it comes to getting the offense to gell against the kind of stout competition we will be facing the rest of the way out.

One good thing we have going for us is that Seattle, San Francisco, and St. Louis all have to play each other twice. Hopefully they will beat up on each other to some extent and help us to maintain our lead in the division while we try to claw our way to a division title.

I didn't really understand the game plan today. It was the most conservative I have seen out of Arians since he has been here.

Did you see Stanton become SCUD yesterday? No doubt Arians tried to run plays where he felt Stanton had the best chance to hit a Cards player... But damn Stanton was ugly! Like D-Wreck Anderson ugly!!

Stanton is, (and always has been), a backup quarterback in the pros. He gets tentative once he is knocked down or pressured. He has not yet developed the bravado to be able to get back up and throw a TD AFTER he throws an interception. That is why he is a backup. Both Warner and Palmer could throw an interception, then come back and throw a TD. Stanton has not yet shown that he can do this. Remember, just last week he came out winging it for 2 early TD's, but when he threw a pick, he was pretty much done. That is what he has to learn to do as a starter.

He can operate the offense, but he cannot yet 'execute' it. He can run the playbook, but he cannot yet 'command' the offensive roster.

Offense wasn't the only reason for this loss. Our punt team was pretty bad today. That blocked punt seemed to take all the wind out of the Cardinals sails. The dropped TD by Jaron Brown also hurt just before the half. We might have been a much different team coming out of the half down 9-7 instead of 9-3. IN any event, the blocked punt seemed to turn the game over to Seattle.

I agree. It was way to vanilla and played right into Seattle's hands. When we did throw the ball we had success.

I thought that BA was seeing things in real terms , Stanton at the champs house , their backs to the wall , would bring their A game . Imagine if you will , we have to go play a woeful Falcons team , and we have to go in with Lindley or the Cub at QB . Can you say season over ????

Hope Stanton and offense can build some confidence next week at Atlanta. Would be nice to control the game from beginning to end. If we don't win this game, then I believe it maybe the start to panic mode (offense wise of course).
