I hate to say this, but I think they will go small SOMETIMES. Against some teams, D'Antoni ball was very effective. The problem was that it wasn't always effective and even less so in the playoffs.

I was curious about the combination of Stoudemire and Diaw on the inside. It wasn't as bad as it seemed. It was 3 wins, 2 losses and both losses were close. However, only in the Mavs game did the Suns score more in the fourth quarter.

Feb 6 vs NOH - lost 130-132
Feb 8 vs Sea - won 103-99
Feb 10 vs Was - won 108-109
Feb 13 @ GSW - lost 118-120
Feb 14 vs Dal - won 109-97

The loss to the Hornets was not due to size, but lack of depth. It went into double overtime. Skinner only played 14 minutes. BTW, Amare had a 26 point 20 rebound game, but Chandler didn't play.

Hill - 39
Diaw - 43
Stoudemire - 49
Bell - 47
Nash - 45
Barbosa - 40
-----------------------------------------
Losing to the Warriors at GS is hardly a shock. 118-120 (lost it in the fourth quarter)

Hill - 39
Diaw - 35
Stoudemire - 32
Bell - 38
Nash - 37
Barbosa - 34

Skinner only played 5 minutes but Strawberry played 18.

One curious element was that Barnes played 25 minutes for the Warriors at PF (Jackson played 43). Barnes went 6 of 11.

My read on it is that small ball works some of the time, but it just wears out the players when done too often.

Its not 100 percent set in stone that he will retire in 2 years. He said so on the latest video on www.suns.com at training camp.

i suppose i'm wasting my time telling you this, but shaq's game will be so far gone in 2 years that there would be no point for him to continue on. His ego will leave him demanding far more than most teams will be willing to pay him, too.

I remember. All the losses could be mainly booked on Nash being brutally abused by Paul, Pargo, or Monta Ellis in the fourth.
