I wanted Skat, but the Giants wanted him more. I think he will split carries but will go over 1000 yds..I expect a JC kind of year by year 2 or 3 and a solid year this year. He's a dual threat despite having just decent speed. Wilson at qb will make him so much better as a dual threat rb. I think the Giants, Jersey culture will be a great fit. He'll be a fan favorite quickly.
You don't have sell me on him. I've been a sun devil fan since the Frank Kush days.

I was intrigued by the idea of dallas drafting him. dallas got J. Blue which in theory is what they lack on offense. As much as it was painful to watch in the moment as a longhorn fan, I go back to that ASU game. it was one of the best CFB games that I have seen in a very long time and Skatt's performance was heisman-esque.

Skatt isnt athletic enough to be a bell cow RB in the NFL. His value will be special teams and short yardage.

I actually think he will be a better intermediate gainer than short yardage. and he will be a first down threat because of his dual nature of pass/run. if he can be a good lead blocker or pass protector that will also make him a very good player. While not being fast he also ran to daylight against texas from what I remember. meaning he didn't just choose to run over people, he had elusiveness.

I was amazed Dallas didn't take him

Am i the only one so pissed Cards passed on Skatt? This a colossal mistake. Classic example of an incredible football player falling because of a 40 yard dash. More importantly, think about all the fans of other teams that live in AZ, but went to ASU, dont we want to convert those? Have more Cards fans at home games? Skatt jersey sales? Doesnt this squad soarley need a likable hometown kid?

C’mon. They should have taken him in the 3rd, and maybe the 2nd. If he busted, nobody would care, it was a free pick…

Ruined the entire draft for me
Don't worry bruh, Sam Leavitt gonna be Cards 1st rounder next year.

yeah me too. Honestly I was surprised by many of dallas' picks. they allegedly went with top players available on their board. but they have no offensive playmaker on their team aside from Lamb. and Prescott is cooked now. they picked a RB very late that couldn't earn the starting job at Texas when the top Texas RB tore his ACL preseason.

Just excellent balance and vision with the will to not go down on first contact. I more worry that his running style will mean a short career with the shots he’s going to take. But I think he’ll have a nice career, albeit brief.

his balance and vision reminds me a of Emmitt's. it's also nice to have legs that are like oak trees.

I would have loved to have him on my favorite team yes but I was mainly pulling for him to get drafted and further his dream. I've never met the kid but talking to my niece and nephew they talk about how difficult things were for him growing up and how hard he has worked since he first got a hint the NFL might be an option. Can't help but pull for kids like that

he did run on Texas as well and they were good at stopping the run last year. I wouldn't say Texas was great at it other than obvious short yardage situations, but that was a great audition for him. I think he can be effective in the right situations. and he can catch the ball well. his only downfall is speed and he will need to take care of his body to last more than just a couple of years in the league. we probably both agree that he got drafted where he should have?

No I agree the 4th round is was just about right.

I don't think he'll ever be a feature back but he could come of the bench and be effective.

Especially against a tired defense, he could break some 10, 12, and 15 yard runs.

Might be an effective in a short yardage/goal line role too.

It seems like many of you agree he is limited and cant translate to anything more than a utility/role guy. Because he ran a 4.6 instead of a 4.4? He was immensely productive in CFB against good competition, why cant he be at the next level?

IDK, I think he could be a feature back. I mentioned E. Smith because he too allegedly ran a slow 40 time which caused him to slip in the draft, although he was a first round pick. Emmitt ran a 4.5 I think. but he also ran to daylight and was rarely brought down in the open field by one player, which had a lot to do with his long TD's (aside from the OL). many of Emmitt's long runs were breaking tackles or jukes down field because of his ability to change his pace. sktatteboo reminds me of that when I watch him. not saying he's going to be Emmitt, but low to the ground, big legs, great vision, difficult to tackle one on one. those things are similar.

It’s not just the pedestrian speed. It’s the fact that many of his big runs were the result of his physicality. While that will be a plus for him at the nfl he also won’t win as many of those encounters at that level. I think he could be any every down back but a lower level every down back. I’d be surprised if he ever rushed for 1200 yards in a season. But I could see 800-1000. Will catch some passes no matter his role.

My concerns I've said before, so physical you wouldn't expect a long career, and concerns about fumbles because he fights for extra yards so often, in the NFL that can lead to fumbles.

I guess now I have to start my Jaydn Ott campaign for next year. Transferring from Cal to Oklahoma, had a bad ankle injury last year limited him all year but was one of the highly coveted transfers in the portal.

I am an ASU grad who has been a fan of their sports teams since the 70's. I'd have loved to have Skattebo on our team but am overall happy with where he landed and wish him the best. Good kid. I wouldn't be surprised if we still see him doing commercials for local businesses here from time to time. So far, he's done Burrito Express and Lifted Trucks. Seems like the kind of guy who will make return appearances to ASU as well.

not really alstott was a much bigger guy and just a straight ahead runner, Cam is no Barry Sanders but he has vision and can cut and read holes. Alstott was probably 30 pounds heavier
Hmm I’ll take one more stab and then I’ll stop.

Ian Rapoport is a dork. He mixed up the schools for both Tetairoa McMillan and Cam Skattebo. SMH.

Some national sportswriter.

Never seems to do this for Florida/Florida St., Oregon/Oregon St. and other two-college states. Constantly mixes up ASU and the U of A though.

Yes, there was yet another mix-up … ASU’s Cam Skattebo called Arizona RB during NFL Draft

You would think everyone would’ve learned a great lesson when Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan was mistakenly called an “ASU star” when he was drafted by the Carolina Panthers eighth overall on Thursday.

Especially when it comes to the main culprit and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Well, it appears there is still some learning to do, as Rapaport again mixed up the rival schools when reporting on “Arizona RB” Cam Skattebo and his fourth-round selection to the New York Giants.
