Notre Dame's Jadin O'Brien broke not only her own Fighting Irish school record and the ACC record in the pentathlon, but she also broke the facility record at the Virginia Beach Sports Center. All this while earning her third straight championship in the event.
She and teammate Alaina Brady were two of the 16 competitors in the event. Notre Dame also had Siona Chisholm competing in the 5000-meter race.
O'Brien had the fastest time in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal best 8.16. She had a 16.9-meter high jump and a 14.5-meter shot put, which was the second-best of the day. She then had a 6.19-m long jump and ran the 800-meter in 2:12.65 for a total of 4,596 points.
Brady had 3,956 points to finish 15th while Chisholm did not finish the 5000-meter race, exiting after 2000 meters.
Madison Schmidt will compete in the women's high jump for Notre Dame on day two of the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
