So I just googled evan sidery linked in, this kid was in freaking high school 3 years ago working at fast food. I guess now he has press credentials because he is doing journalism at asu.

But he hasn't been around long enough to have seen lots of incarnations of basketball, yet like some of these other suns blog boys is so arrogant to think their way of thinking is the be all end all.

Forgot about olajuwon, ewing, robinson , shaq that he didn't see, he isn't even old enough to remember tim duncan or kg In their prime.

He's never seen a hof big man dominate for a career, yet he and his other 20 year old buddies are comfortable in saying the position is dead.

I like DiVencenzo. I think he could be a great sixth man... ball-handler, shooter with surprising pop in his legs. And that wouldn't be too shabby for the 16th pick.

He is a play maker that can shoot or vice versa. Reminds me a bit of Hornacek.

I'm all for trading up for a difference maker, but I don't think it's that big of a stretch to think a potential difference maker could fall. If I were ranking prospects on their likelihood to get to 16, I would say...

There's a ton of upside to those first 16 players. I'm not personally a big fan of Walker and Williams is probably not a fit with Ayton, but if those two go in the top 15 (very possible) or a surprise player is drafted early, the Suns could be sitting pretty.

I know this question wasn't directed to me, but as a Zhaire Smith supporter, I love a few things:

1. He has great instincts on all of the little things. He makes defensive plays happen, gets tip-ins and offensive rebounds, and can affect a game without scoring.

2. It's a bit reactionary, but his profile, measurements, and per-40-minutes stats compare favorably to Donovan Mitchell.

3. He came out of nowhere to make a name for himself and seems to have the competitiveness and work ethic needed to improve. I see him as a guy with a lot of skill areas that he can and will work to improve on, giving him a unique amount of untapped potential.

4. I have a theory with him that's kind of the inverse of the Anthony Davis theory. A lot of the best bigs are guys who had late growth spurts and were forced to develop guard skills before they became monster specimens.

Smith went to a below-the-radar high school where he was actually the tallest player on the team. In interviews he said he mainly played center. You can see the benefits that come from this in some of his play. He rebounds on the offensive end like a big and makes some Dwyane Wade style blocks on the defensive end.


Ultimately, I see him as a guy with tremendous potential who, even if he doesn't reach that potential, will be a valuable asset off the bench as a guy with elite athleticism who hustles and does the little things well. The Suns need more players like that.

Some really nice work. It's easy to see there will be some good players even at #31. If the Suns trade one of Bender or Chriss, Knox would be nice. However, if Shai is there at #16, I think he is the choice.

I agree about him coming off the bench. He would give the Suns another shooter and facilitator in the backcourt.

Smith, Brown and DiVencenzo would be fine wings off the bench. Devon Reed was a huge reach so he shouldn’t factor in here.

Troy Brown would’ve been a top-10 pick next year had he returned. Reminds me of Iguodala at AZ.

I would be pretty heated if they reach on Holiday or Brunson that high.

I think Walker will go lottery.

The fact that he actually looks like he USES that athleticism and lead his Texas Tech (let that sink in . . . TEXAS TECH) team to high ranking a s a freshman. And he’s not undersized. I think there’s a TON of big time potential there.

Great minds think alike: Zaire and Donte are the guys I likewise am zeroed in on at 16... I think both have tremendous upside as bench dynamoes right from the get go.

Which of course means the Suns won't choose either, assuming both are there at 16 (Smith is a definite possibility to not be). The Suns just can't possibly be that forward thinking. I fully expect them to take a boring "safe" pick at 16, along the lines of Holliday or Brunson.

I guess there is always still the possibility they will trade out of 16 to move up (a good thing) or for some "veteran" help. The latter has me a little uneasy, as I am imagining another Brandon Knight type of acquisition.

Scott Bordow has made a new Mock Draft and posted it this morning. The player he selected at 16 for the Suns is not Aaron Holiday anymore, or a PG for that matter. He has Lonnie Walker of UNLV coming to Phoenix with the 16th pick. Kind of surprised he didn't have a selection for 31. I know he does 1st round drafts for the Suns but since the Suns literally have the 1st pick in the 2nd round, 31st overall, you'd think he could throw that into the mix as well.

It’s looking less and less likely Phoenix stands pat here. The Suns reportedly are interested in using the No. 16 pick to move up in the first round and they could also trade back in a deal that nets them a veteran player. But if those deals fall through an uber-athlete like Walker could be the pick. Walker doesn’t have a proven offensive game, but teams love his upside, particularly on the defensive end.

Of course he also has Ayton going at #1 as well.

Nearly everyone around the league believes the Suns are drafting Ayton despite the hiring of Igor Kokoskov as coach and his obvious familiarity with Slovenian guard Luka Doncic. Their belief is justified. General Manager Ryan McDonough has said center is a “slightly higher” priority and NBA scouts have compared Ayton with Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid and Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns. At this point, if Ayton’s not the pick it will be a real shocker.

I'm willing to trade, #16, #31, miami 2021, milwauke and two suns unprotected picks. That seems insane, 5 first round picks!

Here's the thing, it would be the 5th top 8 pick the suns have had in 3 years, we've amassed enough talent, and none of those picks were even used on our franchise player.

We don't need anymore, and the the upcoming drafts aren't considered as great as the 17 and 18 drafts. Even if something happens and we get #1 next year, where would rj barret (#1 prospect, sg) play on a suns team? Take it, i'd rather have potential 6'11 superstar stretch 4 in porter.

How high would that offer get, not sure? I would start at dallas and work down. I think cleveland would be very tempted, if lebron leaves they will need a lot of future picks to rebuild, plus the flattening of the lottery odds is great for teams with multiple lottery picks. But who will be there at 8?
