The reason I call Nkemdiche's contract a liability is because he takes up a roster slot and though the cap hit is $2m if they cut him it jumps to $3.4m. What makes everyone think Matthieu can stay healthy enough to class as a core guy? It's hard to picture fitting Jefferson & Swearinger under that $20m. Communication has hurt the Cards on defense this year. Add too many new names and the first half of the year could be awkward.

I have always wondered how much of our problems on the Oline is due to poor coaching. Then you watch other teams with patchwork lines and they make it work. Cable would have been a good addition to the team.

If Palmer had any semblance of wheels, he could dodge linemen coming at him or at least create some time for himself and avoid those boneheaded strip fumbles. I'm not talking all-world mobility like Wilson, but someone like Matt Ryan or Wentz. This, plus ST, is what is holding back our team from even sniffing the playoffs.

Dude, he moves fine in the pocket but just holds the ball too long of late. Being mobile is not just running out of the pocket, but movement in the pocket which made Marino one of the best mobile QBs in that context and Palmer does this... but I agree, ST is our buga boo

I disagree with that it's entirely the mobility of the QB. You watch the Cardinal games and you see guys come through clean several times a game giving Palmer no chance at all. I will not argue that Palmer holds too long. Watching the Seattle game you saw maybe once or twice someone form NE come through clean and it was usually on a blitz. Seattle had a backup LT playing because Sowell was hurt. I am willing to bet none of the starters for Seattle would be starters in AZ yet they did a nice job of opening up some holes for the run game and more than a decent job in pass protection. How does a guy like Sowell sit as a backup in AZ and become a competent starter in Seattle? How does a guy like Massie play below average in AZ and then become a decent RT in Chicago? It apparently isn't talent. SO is it the technique coaching or is it the blocking schemes are so poorly designed that they don't work or is it how the coaching staff utilizes the talent they have?

I would honestly rather have Cutler... Romo is good for three games max till his shoulders or back goes out again, but this is all pee pee in the wind since Palmer will be the starter

Sure there is: He's older now, and the offensive line in front of him isn't as good. It's not like Palmer is experiencing a slump relative to his usual performance. What we've seen this season is how he's played his entire career.

Agreed, yet people are "shocked".

This IS Carson Palmer, and I am more concerned with the other areas of the team that has regressed.

This year is a mystery for Palmer and this offense.

Our O line isn't performing, but it isn't really our O line either. Half injured Iupati, Mathis out, Veldheer out. Our only two consistent starters are an overmatched Shipley and rookie Humphries. Neither one of them are doing that bad really, holding up against the giant NT's and speed demon pass rushers on opposing defenses.

Not saying the guy is not winning football games, not at all. I am 100% OK with Carson Palmer playing like.....well, Carson Palmer. I do not think Palmer is the problem, I think the problem is the team around him is not as good as the 2013, 2014, and 2015 teams. There ARE 21 other players that have an affect on the game. Yes, the quarterback is important, but there are still other factors.

Personally, I think expecting Palmer to play beyond what he normally plays like is a bit unfair. He is who he is, and that is what you are going to get out of Palmer.

I think there are a lot of players that are not even playing up to their normal level that are not the quarterback, and that is the bigger issue in 2015. IMHO.

I believe you have identified the problem, but I don't believe it is a new one. Seattle goes through this with their 2nd CB spot and entire offensive line every year. We will have to make tough choices. Those choices may lead to players like Jefferson and Campbell going elsewhere. I look at that list and I see Swearinger, Jones, Okafor, Mauro, and Gresham as the likely re-signs. Campbell will depend on $$$ and will be tough. The rest of the group is entirely replaceable with the exception of Jefferson but we have already decided to pay Mathieu.

Campbell will be 31 next season, and this team will be in more of a rebuild mode. I do not see Campbell coming back. Good player, and I will thank him for his services but signing him to big money is not a good move, IMHO.

Agreed, also we have to give some credit to the opposing teams DCs. These guys are smart guys, they watch the tape from last year and know what we are doing. It's up to BA to make some adjustments. I think he needs to get in CPs ear and tell him early in game we need to take what the D is giving us. That will in turn open up the long ball game. I also think it will confuse other teams defenses. In other words CP needs to play smarter.

Fitz and Palmer will be back for one more year. The Cards need to fix the Oline since it has been a mess this year.

Way too much money would be left on the table for either Fitz or Palmer to walk away after this season. They will be back.
