I just got through watching the tape of this game... well until midway through the 3rd qtr... i thought shoving razor blades under my finger nails would be more entertaining...

I just want to add my 1cent worth.

This team has NO concept of how to play a zone defense. NONE!

Their concepts on defense in general are pretty bad. Terrible help/weak side defense.

Voshon Leanard absolutley owns the phoenix suns. As a matter of fact Denver owns us. They destroyed in preseason play as well.

Joe Johnson will never be what we want him to be. Our starting SG.

I loved the way Amare asserted himself in the 2nd half. It's something we sorely lack, a guy that can take it upon himself.
If the guy can stay out of foul trouble and get what ever rust is in him (didn't look like much) he's the guy we should be pounding the ball into all the time.

I wish Mcdyess had gotten more time. He messed up a few times yet had a couple of unlucky bounces after getting nice potision. you could see he wanted the ball and actually wanted to do something. Unlike JJ who wandered about doing very little. He should've sat.

I think we need a player like Kobe Bryant. We should sign him if we can.

Go Suns!

:(

Do you realize that this is the first time in 16 years this team hasn't had an all-star point guard? Kj-Kidd-Marbury has gone on non-stop since 1988. That's quite a standard to live up to for a 21 year old rookie who barely speaks English.

It's certainly gonna take some time for me to get used to this.

Leanard owns the phoenix suns because they play such a poor zone. The thing is the Phoenix Suns should have been able to defend the Nuggets man-to-man. I didn't think there was any reason to use the zone against them. They were constantly out of position last night. It was excruciating because you could just watch the Denver Nuggets repeatedly getting wide-open under and around the basket.

However that is in my biggest problem with the Phoenix Suns defense. I think what has been killing them the most is that their perimeter players are far too aggressive, so they are allowing their opponents to blow by them to the basket. Every one of the suns perimeter players flies out of their shoes when the offensive player shows them the basketball. They have no defensive discipline. Then to make matters worse the weak side/help defense is usually out of position.

I am sick and tired of seeing Casey on the Floor for over 5min a game. He has no D on good players and he just doesn't have the quickness to get to the basket or get open for a mid range shot. He need to sit on the bench until we need a 3. Here is my suggestion for a rotation and starting line up.

Barbosa
Marion
Zarko
Amare
Dice
-Subs-
1) JJ (for 1-3 postitions)
2) Harvey (energy guy)
3) White (Foul trouble or Added Rebounding)
4) Eisley
5) Voskul (2nd round of energy/Foul Trouble)
6) Casey (only for 3's)
7) Lampe (once Googs is moved to IR or Traded)
- IR -
Googs
Williams

As much as I'd like to see Googs moved to the IR, there are two reasons that I think he won't be.

1) You can't be traded if you are on the IR

2) I think the Colangelo's have possibly agreed to keep Googs on the active list. That way when he's a free agent it doesn't look like he was injured the entire season because he was on the IR. This is just a shot in the dark, but it sounds like something the C's would do to take care of a player.

Wasn't Lampe on the IR when he was traded?

Besides what did they say about him on Arizona Sports Report after the game?

Lampe must have been activated to be traded, you can not be traded if you are on IR.

What did they say about Lampe on the Arizona sports report??

Not much just that he could be something special and that he speaks like 5 lang. and he wasn't happy about not being able to get a chance to play but he like the situation he is in with PHX.

I know I sound like a broken record, but the Suns will never be a good defensive team without a serious center. They spend so much time double teaming that they constantly leave people open. Either that, or they have Voskuhl pressing a guard or some other such mismatch.

If that's true then there are about 2 dozen teams that will never be good defensively. Past Shaq and Duncan, there just aren't any good centers anymore.

There are a lot of guys between Shaq/Duncan and Voskuhl. I will agree that there aren't many elite centers and some of the players may be shorter than I would like, but to argue that Voskuhl is the best the Suns can do is not plausible.

I agree. As much as I like Jake Voskuhl, Greg Ostertag would be the best center on this current Suns team.

Looking for some faces to kick sand in after your boys were humiliated by the Lakers' second unit, I see.

It's a good think Bdzelik had them so prepared for that game, or they might have lost by 50. ;)

I would guess there are upwards of a dozen (I'll give my list in a future post). Some are not enough better to be worthy bothering with, but even flawed centers like Ostertag and Camby (6'11" 225!) are legitiate starting centers even if not enough to win a championship with. Voskuhl is a great backup, but pretending he is more than makes no sense.
