RB stable next year: Edge, Hightower, Rhodes.........now that sound pretty decent to me.......you can flip flop Hightower/Rhodes or Rhodes/Hightower............let the back-up battle begin...

If we can sign Rhodes to what Shipp is making or less, it would be a great team of RB's to have. Ship and JJ get cut which is long overdue IMO.

So we dont need a guy who averaged 4 yards a carry behind a worse OL then ours last year. A guy who can be counted on to get us 100 yard games if he had to start. A guy that is better then JJ or Shipp? He can improve on any one of those two guys and if he can be an improvement why dont we need him. He isnt going to cost much.

Oakland's Ol is actually the exact opposite of our OL. Very good in the running game, but not that strong protection the QB.

Oakland finished #6 in total rushing and #11 in rushing average. Pretty solid.

To get to 450-500 carries by our running backs we're going to need one or two guys other than Edge to get 100-200. Who do we have right now that can do that effectively?

Bring in Dominic, cut Edge maybe to save cap room to get a Q deal done?

Just a thought. I'd hate to see Edge go though.

Not positive but I think cutting Edge actually eats up caproom. Besides why would we do that, Rhodes has never proven he can be a reliable 25 carries a game, 16 games a year back. I'd be for signing Rhodes and jettisoning Shipp and JJ, I think he is a better back than both of them combined.

nvm: would be savings, but still wouldnt' do it

dont need him.

We need any RB that has started for a NL team last year. If Dallas can take the BA they just signed Rhodes is a Sunday School Teacher. Cut one of our turkeys. I doubt Rhodes will just fall down if someone looks at him. We probably need a BA RB.

I brought this up in the draft thread. I figured they would cut someone, honestly I thought it would be Lamont Jordan. I would bring in Rhodes and let him compete. It may slow down the progress of Hightower, but it also makes for a great insurance policy.

RB's do not progress much. After a couple of games they can either run or not. They are ready to run the ball when they arrive or not. Keep Hightower and let one of the other guys go who we know cannot run (Arrington for starters).

You know I would be interested in LaMont Jordan if he is released. He may not be a speed back but he would be a great 1yr stop gap until next year's first rounder gets used on a RB.
