Not only did the Cards get a stud at #5 but they also increased their chances of landing Kolb as a result of other team's moves. Carolina, Tennessee, and Minnesota all drafted QB's early and essentially are out of the running for Kolb. I don't see how any of those teams could invest a high first rounder on a QB like they did and then justify trading for Kolb. In addition, Cincinnati drafting Green could indicate that they are attempting to entice Palmer to return.
Outside of us, San Francisco, Seattle, Miami, Washington and Cincinnati to an extent appear to be the only teams left in the running for Kolb, and there is no way Philly trades Kolb to Washington. With Mallet and Dalton still on the board and expected to go in the 2nd round, it's possible that two more of the above teams are crossed off the list. Lack of competition for Kolb should bring the asking price down.
Could you imagine stocking our defensive cupboards during this years draft, then acquiring Kolb to lead the offense?
