Looks like the storms are developing a more northernly component to their direction. Looking like the north half of the valley might get the most fun from this tonight, unless we can get a good outflow to kick up some nice storms a little further south.

Very cool, good luck with that.

Thanks....don't know if I will ever put it to use other though. Not much money in working for the National Weather Service (to go along with horrible hours for your first 7-10 years), and don't have the media background for TV. But the stuff is just so damn interesting to me, figured I would just chip away at some classes and keep learning about it, hopefully graduating class of 2021.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say we get nothing in central PHX.

Ya I am in Tempe and don't see anything happening here either. Fingers crossed though, hopefully it will start building further south here.

The way these storms are moving now, it looks like only the far north and east portions of the valley have a chance... I'm in that direction but I'm not feeling too confident that even I'll get hit...:(

The only upside to not getting hit tonight is that the dynamics for tomorrow look far better than tonights. And its pretty tough to get big storms back to back nights in the valley. So if they do miss, hopefully they just die out to our north and leave all the moisture around for tomorrow.

Crazy crazy rain in east mesa near power and brown then I drive two miles westand it's not even raining ha I haven't seen such heavy rain this year though I could barely drive and the roads were full of water. I hope it keeps coming west. Judging by the wind it looks like it will

Good solid rainstorm here in N Scottsdale, around 3/4 inch of rain and some tremendous winds, just around midnight last night. Finally.

We got rain here last night! Came down in buckets for a while with lots of thunder.

I absolutely was not surprised.

I washed my car yesterday.

lol...it took me a minute to realize you meant a patio umbrella or something. I thought you meant a personal one, and i was thinking, "Who the hell in AZ spends that kind of money on an umbrella? Does anyone even make umbrellas for $150?? That's crazy!!"

Those storms were hyper localized. I think the heat island is killing a lot of these storms.
