Hmm the vortex developed its own little cell. Lots of nice popcorn cells out there. Lets see how much more develops.

I call this the Vortex, because nothing can penertrate it!

101 to the north, 51 to the east, 17 to the west, 10 to the south.

Ya the fact we are getting popcorn cells in the valley makes me feel like the stuff along the rim and to the SE will be able to move into the valley tonight and not just die out. The fact that the 450mb heating is gone is huge.

I am hoping even though I did get a nice steady rain last night.

What is this strange substance falling from the sky?

Interesting that the cell that moved through dissipating but is redeveloping over the same area. The storms tonight are supposed to be slow moving tall storms so a decent amount of rain is expected where it does rain. The NWS said this in it's forecast discussion:

SAT AND RADAR TRENDS ARE SHOWING ISOLATED TO SCATTERED SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS OVER SOUTH-CENTRAL ARIZONA EASTWARD. STORM MOVEMENT
APPEARS RELATIVELY SLOW...OUT OF THE EAST AT 10KT OR SO...WITH THE
BIGGEST THREAT THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING BEING MODERATE TO
HEAVY RAINFALL. PWATER OVER THE CENTRAL DESERTS IS AROUND 2.25
INCHES...AT LEAST THREE STANDARD DEVIATIONS ABOVE NORMAL FOR THIS
TIME OF YEAR. MODIFIED 12Z PSR SOUNDING...USING A MEAN LAYER MIXING
RATIO OF 14 G/KG AND AFTERNOON SFC TEMPS AROUND 100...YIELD SEVERAL
HUNDRED J/KG OF CAPE WITH MINIMAL CIN

I know my area got rain last night so took a little longer to get to the convective temp.

I can't say for certain but I wouldn't worry as there are several cells from the ESE moving towards our area that should make it.

Some very solid action to the east and southeast... If any of that can hold it together, we'll all see some decent activity later this evening!

I think you are right 82. The fact that storm was able to form without anything to trigger it shows how good the atmosphere is for rain. I think those storms can hold together because of that. COME ON RAIN!

If they do dissipate on the way in the outflow boundaries should be sufficient with the atmosphere primed as the NWS report indicated in my post above.

And not long after that post the radar shows outflow boundaries coming from the east storms. Got some stuff starting to move towards the 202-60 interchange in the east valley.

We have multiple outflows from several different storms. Looks like one coming in from the NW, one from the ESE and one form the NE. That should help the development of T-Storms here unless there is a cap somewhere over the valley.

Im not hopeful of anything happening here.. God knows that Scottsdale has more money than the Westside so he doesnt bother blessing us with rain..

Ya I am amazed more hasn't fired on those boundaries....must be more warm weather in the upper levels than they thought.

Pouring rain = free truck wash. Cardinals' towels come in handy in the off-season.

The Vortex!
Despite the slight breakdown this afternoon, the Vortex has rebounded and is holding strong!
