Despite the slight breakdown this afternoon, the Vortex has rebounded and is holding strong!
Looks like Tempe and perhaps central PHX is going to get something here soon....well, maybe...

The force of the Vortex is strong!

Ya I am in Tempe...thing blew up overhead, rained itself out in my back yard (almost overflowed the pool) and then dissipated. Got close to an inch when all was said and done.
You need to rush over to O's house and pull the razor blades out of his hands!!! Quickly!!!

I might just call him and rub it in....just to be funny. After I ask him nicely to put the razor blades down of course.
The way my week has been going rain is the least of my worries.
Well, looks like you have another shot as another batch is heading in your direction... I'd say sometime in the next 15 - 25 mins, you're getting rain!
Yep, a lot of stuff coming up from the south, we'll see.
Nothing yet.
Casa Grande getting pounded... can't imagine the vortex has a shot of standing up to this batch.
Oh ye of little faith.
Never underestimate the power of the heat island known as the Vortex!
I'm gonna say not gonna make it. They are shrinking up to nothing right now. But that is just IMHO
Heat island is an urban myth been disproved by climatological data (actually true, rainfall has increased, but number of monsoon storms have decreased). The "No Rain for O Hypothesis" is a well known fact though and prevents rain from falling at his house (this has zero data behind it, but I will stand behind it as fact).
I firmly believe that heat island is not a myth.
I've lived in central Phx for about twenty years now and it gets worse every year.
Here we are almost August 1st and we have gotten less then a half inch of monsoon rain, measured at the airport.
I can remember in the late seventies everyday around 4:30pm there was a storm. Every year it get later and the storms become fewer.
We watch the radar everyday and as it approaches the "Vortex", central Phx, it dissipates.
I don't care what the "data" says, I witness it everyday.
Got a little rain here in South Scottsdale. Kinda like my post-college boyfriend ... nothing to write home about.
