The good news is next weekend it's supposed to be about 105, 106 and maybe, just maybe, the start of the monsoon.

All my 31 years in Arizona. I've never been so hot. Going anywhere or doing anything is a chore. I just want to melt into a puddle.

They say it will be 117 on the 4th...

I love it here :(

I'm trying to find the record for most consecutive days of 110 or higher. I think we're approaching the record.

IIRC, the almanac used to say less than 7 days of 110 or higher for a year.

had to have been in or around 1993 or so. I remember I was working at my dad's shop out in the back and it was over 115 for a few weeks straight or at least that is what I remember.

How many days have we gone so far this year?

Today is the seventh day in a row and 12th day of 110 total. We usually average 10 days of 110+ per year.

The heat doesn't really bother me that much outside of the increase in electric costs. BTW, I opened my bill... $243 :thud:

Don't think I didn't creep the AC back up to 80 degrees

It bothers me like hell :pullhair:

Can't even go outside for walks in the evening. Can't do any yard work; heck, just standing outside to water my plants and I face breaks out in a heat rash and I start perspiring. Don't get any cold water. Getting into my car is, literally, like hell. Even the pool water is too warm.

Let's move to Seattle...all of us.

I'll lead the way.

I'd rather have 3 months of too hot than 3 months of too cold. You guys can complain now while it's hot, but I'll be the one complaining come December when I'm locked in my house because its freezing cold outside while you guys get to enjoy 75 degree weather :(

3 months? It's been hot since May already...May, June...July of course, August, September, October....it's been100+ at Halloween quite a few times if I remember...

People like to say it's nice 8 months out of the year here, but I call BS!!!

And when I say hot, anything above 92 is annoying to me.

A couple of weeks ago I was in Miami.
It was 90+ degrees and the humidity was about the same, just brutal and oppressive.. You walked outside and you felt like you had just stepped out of the shower.
Air you not only breath but wear also.

Call me crazy but I would think anything under about 105 maybe even 110ish would be tolorable there. Like abomb said, Phoenix averages about 10 days of 110+ per year. I'm not saying that it's not hot, I'm just saying I don't think its unlivable. I think anything under 90 is tolorable here (Louisville, KY) but it's also humid here. I hate the humidity. It's like trying to breathe through mud or something.

Considering the humidity is usually like 5% there, I personally don't think it would be all that bad. Summer has always been my favorite season and I like it when it's hot. I can't stand the cold. In the winter time here, it's always cloudy, cold, and just depressing. At least there, you can still enjoy a clear blue sky sunny day from inside the house while it's still grey and depressing inside the house here in the winter time. It's July, about as far away from winter as you're gonna get, and I still find myself dreading the cold days come November.

It's all about personal preference I guess.

That's because it usually drops down into the 105-109 range once the monsoon humidity kicks in.

I like to keep my eye on El Nino/La Nina patterns, and looks like we're in for another La Nina year. That means another year of drought for us, but it also means increased hurricane activity in the Gulf will probably send us a few nasty monsoon-related storms. These are the kind that blow a lot of moisture into our region and combine with the heat to crank up harsh winds. Also lots of lightning. It rains so hard so fast the moisture doesn't stick to the ground, but the winds are so nasty they cause a lot of damage. It's a bad trade off.

August is always a little cooky in La Nina years. Would prefer the lesser, long drizzles of El Nino ... the kind that fill up our water reservoirs.

Not just that, but also because we have heavy clay soil that doesn't absorb water very well.

All told, yeah, I would rather deal with 100+ with low humidity. Sorry ChandlerMike - not moving to Seattle (well, only if I can become a SnowBird). :)
