It will give NFL teams a few more weeks to see which kids self destruct prior to the draft. Should help weed out some of those who say they have changed their "evil" ways.

I don't like it. Not enough time to work with the draft picks and OTA's

Plus it's hard enough to wait until April each year. :D

From the positive side, that means 2 less weeks of wait from the draft to training camp and the regular season.

This is as dumb as the NHL finals being in June. But then they are trying to keep up with the NBA which never shuts down. We tracked Colin Cowheard last year and he mentioned LaBron James at least once a day on his show for 11 consecutive months.

I'm upset. But, anything short of them putting the draft back on Saturday/Sunday afternoon will keep me upset, and I will never win that. So, I will watch anyway, whenever they put it and be upset about it.

I read somewhere that they moved it due to scheduling conflicts.

Why don't they move it to another venue or city for that matter?

Move it to different cities each year like the Super Bowl. Why not?

Doesn't change anything in that regard, per CBA rules they can only be with the rookies for a certain amount of time no matter what. Per the official press release.

"The change in the date of the 2014 Draft will have no effect on when rookies may begin to report to their clubs, the dates of off-season programs, or the length of off-season programs. Clubs will have available to them the same number of practice days that they currently have."

7 letters. NFL ESPN

Both have HQ's in NY area. I believe Radio City Music Hall is about 3-4 blocks from NFL headquarters. I think it would be hard to get those execs out of NY.

This probably has more to do with it than anything else. I suspect if you look closely it is also related somehow to money. Somewhere somehow there is money involved.

As a fan, I'm split on this. On the one hand, this makes April a lot less fun. On the other hand, it shortens the amount of time there's no football to discuss.

For the teams and the players, I think this is a good move.

The players potentially get more time to prepare for their pro-days and someday, likely for the combine as well. This also lets a lot of them finish school instead of basically dropping out to prepare for the draft.

The teams get more time to meet with players and to assess their draft boards.

Also, the shortened off-season is actually a good thing for the players IMO. That huge gap between OTAs and training camp is where a lot of players get in legal trouble.
