MESA! :thud:
I was at the last game vs. the Chargers, remember watching them beat the Cowboys and later be dominated by Denny Green's team. I remember him playing, but yeah I hadn't experienced all the losing yall have so when I'm talking about that joy it goes to people who were following the Cards for a longer time, but I can't hate the only QB to take my team to the playoffs and one of two QB's to take my college team to the Rose Bowl.

Gee, how can you hate a guy that gave Denver the finger? :(
;) I was just bustin' your chops.

I'm fairly neutral on Jake. Loved him at ASU, liked him as a Card...now I just don't care.

7 of the ten warmest years on record are after Jake was drafted by the Cards, this is not a coincidence.

haters, explain this... Jake 1 playoff win despite ownership, every QB before and after in the modern era 0! Then Jake moves on to Denver and goes to the playoffs. Retires and now Denver sucks. Jealous rat haters, maybe Ortege Jenkins could do better..Ha... Tuitrama should have a good pro career in the arena 2 league...

I don't like Jake because he extended his collegiate frat life for six years while being paid as a professional on my favorite NFL team. I'm a Wildcat yet I supported his drafting and his first couple years I supported him until I found out he saw his career as nothing more than a hobby to pass the time by and make some cash. He pretty much did the same thing in Denver and is just as loathed in that town.

How many times does Jake have to flip off season ticket holders, incite road rage incidents, grope co-eds, leave his wife at the altar, tell off his fans, or quit an NFL career to pursue freaking handball until people realize he's an immature flake? The guy's track record off the field speaks for itself. The only people that still support this clown are ASU fans, but I guess I understand as Wazzu fans still idolize fellow idiot Ryan Leaf.
Agree.

This thread started out really funny but it sure went downhill fast. How there could be so much hatred for the only QB that ever got us to the playoffs in the AZ era is beyond me. Its pathetic. When you hear about other players around the league trash our franchise, saying they would never want to come here, this is the kind of thing that gives it legitimacy. You can almost hear Corey Chavous and Aneas Williams whispering to Adrian Wilson: "Get off that team, they'll never win, they'll never put any talent around you, and at the end of everything they'll leave you holding the bag for all their bad years." Its all travelling with no arriving, the light at the end of the tunnel is a train. You get nothing at the end except a bunch of revisionists, explaining how the few great moments really happended in spite of you. I guess thats Cardinal football at its essence.

I was actually joking but come on. Does it not bug you that Jake played 6 years here, goes to Denver and then openly admits he never once participated in the offseason workout program here? Does it not bug you that he was praising Denver's program and then let slip well I never actually went to the one in Arizona but I heard it wasn't good?

Does it not bug you that Denver coaches readily admit they had to coerce Jake to come in and watch films because it wasn't something he ever did in ARizona? I mean he was the highest paid guy on the roster, the QB, the one guy on the team who HAS to put in the extra time off the field to get better, and he was too busy running foosball tournaments at his house to watch film?

Yes we won a playoff game with him, maybe we'd have done a lot more in his 6 years here if he'd put in more effort? That's what bugs me and has always bugged me about him, his mistakes weren't for the most part physical mistakes that he couldn't control, they were mental mistakes that most young QB's eventually stop making but he never did because he never cared to put the effort in.

So what you are saying is that Denver is a more effective organization. Also watch out Leinart. He is going to be on the receiving end too if he does not work out. And I have my doubts about him. Sometimes things just dont work. Plummer has been gone a long time. Where is the venom for Rice, Jones, Boston, Kendall, Davis, Williams, Chavous, Shelton, etc. Seems like a long history of players that dont reach their potential here. Why does there have to be so much hate for one guy? If I wanted to pick a guy and blame the years of ineptitude on someone it would not be Plummer.

If those guys had played QB, set the then team record for contract, and been the "Face of the Franchise" and been as lazy as Jake was you'd see the venom for them.

I just don't get how people can not be bothered by a guy who it's now completely public didn't put in the effort while here? I mean Mike Shanahan went right out there and said they had to almost drag jake kicking and screaming in to watch film he'd never done it before. Is the organization partly to blame for that yes, but come on you really think in 6 years not one Cardinal FO person or coach asked Jake to step up the effort? How many threads did we have over the years where people said they heard Trestman was very critical of Jake's efforts and the standard response was Trestman sucked he's blaming everything on Jake. It's pretty apparent now that he was right about how hard Jake was working.

He was making millions of dollars and he couldnt' be bothered to watch film?

I have no issue with him playing handball or riding dirtbikes or whatever he wants to do now but it still bugs me that he spent 6 years on the Cardinal payroll getting one excuse after another made for him when he just was lazy.

What really bugs me is that a guy that last played for the Cardinals five years ago is the most active thread on the board.

Talk about :deadhorse2:

Petrino thread has 6 pages this one 3. If you mean most active today, it's the newest thread.

There are many ways to look at Jake Plummer but the one that fits him the most is: Some of us has got it and some of us don't -- Jakes got it.

I would like to retract Boston off my list of former Cards who succeeded elsewhere. Bad decision on my point. I just do not think you can blame Plummer without blaming the organization too. He is the only Cardinal QB in my lifetime to lead the tream to a playoff win. Hart didnt do that with far better teams. Lomax didnt do that. I just hope that someday soon people will get beyond Plummer. Maybe someday soon he will be like Pisarkiwiecz (sp?) or Little. Just footnotes of players that were not as successful as it was thought they would be. Because Plummer's relavence to the future of the organization is no greater than those former Cards. So what is the point in continuing to bash him?

Hart had far better teams? He had a better OL than Jake did but those Cards teams had no defense at all. The defense in 98 was 3rd in the NFL in forced turnovers, and they damn near shut Dallas out in Dallas in the playoff win.

You give Jim Hart or Neil Lomax that defense and they'd have won some playoff games too.

I hope we learned a lesson from Jake. I hope part of the reason Whiz was so public about teaching Leinart how to prepare as an NFL QB is that he was aware of what went on when Jake was in the same position and wants to make sure that doesn't happen again with Matt.

Bottom line for me is I feel Jake cheated this franchise by not putting in the effort. If he wasn't interested in being a great QB fine, but don't take all the money.

And a few of the ones who just don't have it are so envious, they continue to badmouth him, whether the things they say are true or not.

What Denver did last year with Plummer in the midst of a playoff race told me all I needed to know about him as an NFL QB.

Dammit...this isn't some silly ASU vs. U of A thread. This is a handball thread! Stay on topic! (Just to toss this is, Tosi's comparison between Marinovich and Plummer is ludicrous.)
