Pretty good, but I really have to see it again--my brain was fried last night when I saw it.

Is the movie that great? Does the ending tie up all the loose ends and conclude nicely?

Sounds cool! Can't wait to see it!

Very, very good movie. Was a bit above my expectations (a teensy bit). I'm not going to go all-out and do what the idiotic reviews are doing, and proclaim it 'one of the best ever', or any nonsense like that, but very good.

I believe Jackson reeeeeeaaaaaaaally teetered at times, but managed not to fall off the brink with some of the stuff he tinkered with. Damn, I wish he could have managed that in Two Towers!

Liked it much, much, MUCH more than Two Towers, but still feel Fellowship was the strongest of the three. Of course, I think the Boromir stuff's the best, so I'm a bit biased :D

What's funny is that I thought ROTK stayed pretty faithful to the books. He didn't really change all that much--what he DID do, however, is omit a lot. There are at least 2 major scenes that were not in the finished film--one of which of course, is the tying up of the Saruman plotline, the other having to do with Faramir and Eowyn (you know what I mean).

I can probably safely say that with 100% certainty, one of the added scenes to the extended DVD will be that Faramir scene that is missing.

Faromir scenes, I should hope!

***Spoilers***

The whole Sam being sent home was BS, but it didn't kill it. It came close, but it didn't. Denethor should have been MUCH better (he never even got to the Palantir bit), but I realized time was a factor. I have no idea why they had to make another battle of Osgiliath (I was originally flipping out when Faromir rode back unharmed into the city-WRONG!-but then they tried to retake Osgiliath, which was wrong and took more time, but worked out okay).

Really stupid, bad mistakes? Arwen having 'ring sickness'. Stupid idea to begin with, then he didn't even develop it...just kind of forgot it. Foreshadowing of the shire scouring, then not doing it...but we knew of this failure already. Made Gimli into the laughingstock of the last two movies. Granted, many of the jokes were better in ROTK than in TT, and some of them were very well placed, but the rest should have never been there (loved the one about the elephant only counting for one, and the dying beside an elf/friend thing). Not working the romance that WAS really in the books into the movie...after he took all the time to add all the Arwen stuff that WASN'T in the books into the movies. Sure, it'll be there on the extended edition, but having ONE LONE SHOT of Faromir looking at Eowyn was unsatisfying, to say the least.

Overall, he was able to overcome the plot and movie mistakes he made to make me enjoy it very much. Sure, there were some things I didn't like (ones that no one could ever convice a sane person were necessary), but it didn't kill the movie. MUUUUUUUUUUUUCH better than Two Towers, for sure.

P.S. What was the deal with the gay headlight? That looked really bad and out of place!

I'm not reading any of the spoilers, nor have I seen it yet, but I think it's funny that the Official LOTR thread is mispelled :)

I would have seen it at midnight on Tuesday, but was in Durango, CO for work...which sucked :)

I'm beginning to think this film should be put in the "Too Many Expectations" file along with "Matrix: Revolutions"!

I gotten feedback from more than a few people so far that have seen it. It breaks down like this:

"The beginning was slow and too long, but picked up at the end" - 40%

"The movie was great, until the end which dragged on forever" - 40%

"It missed on so many levels because it veered from the books" - 17%

Note: This usally came from people who eventually admitted to having not read any of Tolkein's work

"I loved it! It was the Uber-Movie!" - 3%

When I go to see, I will take it for what it is...

Nicely done Mr. Jackson

This movie is not without its flaws (like the rest) but what a great ride.

I have not read the books so the films were mostly brand new to me. Except what friends told me or I read from reviews before hand.

Overall a very entertaining trilogy IMO.

I would somewhat agree the end was dragged out a bit, but it does not detract from the quality of the film.

Why minus one?

1. Some stuff I remember from the books was left out, and some stuff was added that wasn't in the books.

2. Nothing can be perfect.

Loved it but screwed up again seeing it in the first week. Is there anything worse than watching a movie in a theatre full of teen-aged ******** who talk through the whole movie?

If you have any teen-agers, do the world a favor and freeze them until they are in their twenties.

I'm old now but I'm certain I was never that rude or selfish when I was young.

I went on opening day with a group of friends, we were good. :)
