I still contend that the commentaries for LOTR are the best ever done. Enlightening and entertaining.

Old thread resurrected...

I just finished extended number 1 of a marathon I’m doing today (my 5-year-old is with his mother). Amazing, still as good today as it was 19 years ago. Yes, it has been 19 YEARS since Fellowship was released. The movie has aged incredibly well and can’t wait to show this to my son when he is old enough.

So many great set pieces and acting moments. Still one of the best redemption scenes in movie history when Boromir dies protecting Merry and Pippin. The wizard fight between Gandalf and Saruman was very well done as well. And of course, the cave troll, the Nazgul, and the Balrog.
Fantastic!

Gandalf on the stone bridge holding off the Balrog has to be my favorite movie scene EVER!

"You cannot pass! I am a servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the Flame of Anor. The dark fire will not avail you, Flame of Udun! Go back to the shadow. You shall not pass!"

I haven't seen the iTunes 4k yet but the UHD's are fantastic. The Atmos soundtrack alone is worth the price on them.
