I'm still in on Deone Walker.

I recognise he's top heavy and needs some work in the gym but man, when Walker has time to work on his body I think he's going to be a star. This is such a good DT class though, really going to depends on what flavor people like and what they are looking for exactly, but I think he's a far better DT prospect that D-Rob and we took him #27.

Doesn't turn 21 until March 11th.

RAS is definitely not made up or useless.
I flip flop so much on Stewart. He is similar to Kenneth Grant for me in that there are very few players who are that big and that athletic. Those players just don't generally completely bust. Even Odafe Oweh who started off slow and was a zero production guy, just had a 10 sack season in year 4.

It's just another combine number. Very little--not nothing, but very little--should really change about how you view a player after the combine. Medical, some of the drills, etc, sure, those are important. The rest? Useless. Just white noise to confuse the less savvy GMs and scouts.

No way I take Stewart at number 16. The ceiling may be Myles Garrett, but the floor is Tyree Wilson. Just too much risk at number 16. Assuming that he is going to get 10-12 sacks in the NFL is a long way from his yearly average of 1 and half sacks in college.

Somebody is going to "roll the dice" on him in the first round, but to me he's a second round guy. Again, too much risk for the first round.

I think you mean Tyree Wilson? Tyree Wilson had college production but bad tape. I argued on here he was going to be a huge bust. Dude was as athletic as an oak plank and won almost exclusively with power against low grade tackles.

Stewart is the opposite. He doesn't have the production but his physical ability and film are good quality. I think you are underestimating how teams will see him. Remember Travon Walker went #1 with a similar physical profile and less than stellar stats.

Y'all gonna hate me but I don't like Tetairoa McMillan. Great hands and flashy catches but that's because he's the king of jump balls. Dude is never open, he has like a 60% contested catch rate. HUGE red flag.

Thanks...I fixed it. And I do understand the physical differences. Admittedly, Stewart has the physical traits to excel in the NFL, but my point is that it's always a risk to assume significantly improved production at the NFL level compared to actual College performance. It definitely happens sometimes, but again, sometimes it doesn't. We're talking risk assessment. Too much risk for me in the first round.

This. Absolutely this. Where you would rate him BEFORE the combine is most of what you need to know about him.

Most people had him as a 1st round player. Going 25 vs 16 isn't a huge jump.

Here is the breakdown for those who feel like he is "sky rocketing". His issue was always production. That is why some had him at a top 32 guy vs a top 15 guy. What has changed is that hearing a player is a freakish athlete is different than seeing a player's metrics that show how freakish of an athlete the player is.

An example. Hearing Calvin Johnson was a freak athlete heading into the combine was one thing. Watching him run a sub 4.4 40 in borrowed shoes put it into better perspective.

This is what is happening with Stewart.

EDIT: @Stout add Stewart to your list of Big Johns in the draft. He fits.

Production can come. Remember, pressures are just as important as sacks.

I don't have the pressure numbers.

Has there been a first round player that unproductive in college but turned it around in the NFL?

I mean Stewart is testing at Myles Garrett levels. absurd.

Agreed. They had Garrett side by side as an athletic comparison for Stewart.
But the production...
