no - however, if you achieve the penalty in game 3 and your team goes through you are inelligible for the 1st game in the next round

however, if you finish red robin play with a yellow that is washed away so you don't need to worry about picking up a 2nd yellow in the next round

Why? Would have been a shame if France quit THAT much.

A shame? France is a joke who never should have been there in the first place. I'm sure French fans are now saying "good riddance" to their AWFUL coach. Did you see him yelling at South Africa's coach after the game? Just shameful.

I would have zero sympathy for france - especially since the team they ran out there was really devoid of their top level talent and reflects their joke of a coach and association ...... they've made their own dysfunction and have done nothing to correct it now for the last 2 major tournaments they've been embarassed in ..... it's only shameful for them, not really anyone else

i would of been ecstatic with a 3-0 RSA win and a 2-0 win by uruguay .... that would of left both RSA and MX with 4 points and RSA 4GF and 4 GA and MX with 3 GF and 3 GA

Players are to blame on France as well. I was hoping they wouldnt show and be banned for the next 5 world cups or so.

Good news: We advance.
Bad news: Argentina.

Oh well, I'd be lying if I said i didnt see this coming soon as the draw was made. We can look forward to the fact that unlike Uruguay, Argentina will not be bunkering all game long and we may have a chance to score.

Frankly, i feel that Argentinas team in 06 was all-around better than this one.

SI SE PUEDE!!

One goal from Messi and your mind will be changed real quick. Looking forward to Mexico getting blasted by Argentina.

Nigeria just missed a WIDE OPEN goal from 2 yards away with an open net. Oh my.

He makes up for it 1 minute later with a penalty kick.

Argentina and S.Korea advancing at this point, as expected.

I cant believe Argentina just subbed in Martin Palermo, that guy is almost 37. I know thats just about as old as Blanco, but you usually don't see strikers that old.

Revenge on our mind. Argentinas weakness has been speed. I can only hope that Aguirre assembles a lineup with Chicharito instead of Franco.

Franco seems to be Mexico's version of Brian Ching asked to do all the dirty work but not much a threat in front of goal.

I can't wait for the US game to kick off.

Will it be Buddle or Gomez up top with Altidore or will it be Dempsey moving up and Feilhaber or Holden coming in? Will Edu, Clark or Torres start in the middle with Michael Bradley?

The US has to be strong defensively, no more conceding early goals. A shut out would be nice, it's been 13 games since the last one so I would hope they are due.

The game should be wide open as Algeria needs to win to have any chance to advance and we need to win to guarantee advancing. Last I read Algeria will play with 3 forwards, that should leave them vulnerable defensively.

I think them having 3 forwards means that Clark will almost certainly start in tomorrow's game. Also, I read somewhere that they will probably go with a 3-4-3 lineup, which should be great for Donovan, Dempsey and whoever the 2 strikers are.

I agree with Alexi Lallas (sp?) that Clark will not start and probably won't sub, because he wasn't even subbed in (Edu was instead) in the last game. I think the coach has lost confidence in him right now. I wouldn't be surprised to see Holden in midfield, but it may very well be Edu. I figure Bradley gives Buddle the start, finally (Findley was a bad idea--TWICE!). If it gets late and we need a goal, either Holden comes in and Dempsey gets pushed forward, or we sub out a mid for Gomez, or any number of other permutations. Either way, it'll be an interesting game. GO USA!!!

Franco hasn't got a fan outside of the coach. He did alright as a backup striker for West ham, but he isn't the slightest bit productive when Gio, Vela, Hernandez (young, fast guys) are on the field with him.

If Hernandez plays at lead striker for the majority of the Argentina game, we'll have a chance to win it.
