Having surgery gives you a lot of time to sit around and watch a lot of crap. While I was out of it so much that concentrating on a movie was kind of hard at first, I slowly got back to normal.

By the way, please take the fact that I was bored and just watched what was available to me :)

rankings based on a 1-10 scale

Thin Red Line: 9 - While I have to say, this movie bored me (maybe because of the drugs, I dunno), it was really a great movie. The cinematography was awesome, the battle scenes seemed very realistic, and the cast was amazing.

The Ninth Gate: 3 - Ugh, I watched it on regular TV, hence I'm sure a lot was edited, but man the end of this movie was a HUGE let down...

Biloxi Blues: 5 - I like Matthew Broderick and Christpher Walken, so I watched this one...pretty funny in parts, but not the greatest.

About Schmid: 8 - A good movie, acting was awesome, but again, maybe it was the drugs, but I was pretty bored during this one as well...there just didn't seem to be a climax to the movie, and when it ended, I wondered if I missed something (which is possible).

Uptown Girls: 5 - Okay, I know I'll get crap for this, but it was the end of the week, I was bored out of my mind, and this was on our Tivo having been recorded by the wife awhile ago. And Brittany Murphy is just nice to look at, so I endured it. Pretty cheesy...

Aliens: 8.5 - This was on Fox Movie Channel, which doesn't have commercials, and doesn't censor their movies...gotta love Aliens..."Game over man!!"

Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, extended versions: 10 - Everyone knows I love these films, and i could probably watch them both again tonight. I can't wait for the ROTK to come out on DVD.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: 9.5 - Finished my Indiana Jones trilogy set by watching this. I still need to check out the extras DVD. Great movie of course, the jokes between Dad and Junior have to be some of the most classic lines in a movie.

I think that's all I watched, although I feel like there are a few more...

Yeah, the ninth gate was good but the end was a let down...and they never properly explained what that one woman's powers were or why she was helping Johnny Depp...was she Satanic or what?

I actually intially gave Aliens a 10, but I didn't want it to compare to LOTR :D

But I think I'd rank both Crusade and Aliens the same...great flicks.

Personally, I think Aliens would probably rank a 9.5 with me and Last Crusade an 8.5 or a 9. I just have too much love for Raiders, which is definitely the #10 out of the Indy Jones list... :D (Of course, I also would give Temple of Doom at least an 8--IMO it's pretty underrated)

Exactly my feelings on it...completely. What was she, this freak with green eyes who floats down stairs?

First one is good, but I just love the humor in Crusade...

I'd rank them all about the same...one of the best trilogies out there.

Get over it already, it's a great film :D

Mike

I'm allowed to ball bust. :p

Still, it wasn't a great film. Very few films can be labelled great. The Two Towers was a pretty good movie, ignoring the books. I'd have to say The Fellowship of the Ring was a classic, and The Return of the King (with Frodo idiotically sending Sam home and no scouring of the Shire) was a great movie. Two Towers only gets a pretty good from me.

Fellowship was the weakest, IMO, but not because it wasn't made well. It was weakest because it had to spend a lot of time introducing all the characters, which in turn made it just a little slow until they got to Moria, when it pretty much made up for it. I say Fellowship is the weakest, which isn't saying much, since it's still a pretty great movie.

All these arguements about the following movies not being exactly like the books are just nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking. :D

I dunno...I watched it and got chills when the Ents charge, and when Gandalf rides over the hill with the Riders of Rohan behind him...to me, the music of Rohan, the characters...it is still a great movie.

It's the middle movie, so obviously it's going to be looked at as a lesser film I think, but it was awesome.

Sure, Jackson took some liberties, but I'm over it...I love the films.

No you didn't miss anything (except the "t" in the title :p)

There was not much climax to the movie it just kind of ended. It had a good (if depressing) message.

Can you really call a movie great when it bores you? The whole point of a movie is to make you feel something. I don't care for this movie at all simply because I was bored throughout the entire thing.

-Junior, I'm just as human as the next man.

-Dad, I was the next man.

-Heh, that's funny.

That's my favorite quote.

Mine from the movie:

- He's trying to kill us!

- I KNOW, DAD!

- Sorry, it's a new experience for me...

- Happens to me all the time

ROTFL!
