For once and all, could the idiots that call themselves announcers back off Matt Leinart. Can everyone give Matt a freaking break. I'm a UT-ex, so if anyone has any bad words for Matt from USC, it would be me but they are nit picking everything the guy does and he is not the problem. Our OL right now simply stinks. A bruising back like Hightower cannot find the light of day to gain any positive yards. The OL gives our QB such a narrow pocket to throw from and I would hate to see the throwing lanes they provide. Russ better get his butt to work and coach and from what I have seen so far...Levi Brown is average at best, Keith is severly overrated by some that he ever had something special to offer and Mr. Faneca...I have never seen a Pro-Bowler look so BAD! Maybe they need time to jell together but our problem right now is our OL, not Matt!!!

Lastly on defense, could WE PLEASE START TOLER OPPOSITE OF DRC ALREADY AND STOP THIS COMEDY OF ERRORS WITH MILLER AND MCBRIDE!!!...PLEASE!

btw...I'm not saying Matt does not have some problems, as any QB would have getting the kinks out early in the preseason but if someone would ask Matt or Hightower about our starting OL, the answer would not be printable.

The OL is the foundation on which to build. The weaker the foundation, the weaker the structure as a whole.

I'm glad to see there are some who are watching the games not listening to all the Bull over the air, paper and on the Cable. Matt is NOT the problem. In fact IMO he is the best piece of the puzzle on offense + Beanie+Fitz+Breaston. He gets the ball out quickly or he gets killed. I hope he can hold onto his health for game 1.

Best thing Matt could do right now is game one fake an injury, let DA and the rookie get killed then make the team beg him to play.

Having constant pressure is bad for any QB. Likewise, having a very weak running game is also a killer. I do not know whether or not Matt has what it takes. I do know the O-Line has to do much better no matter who is under Center. I see the panic button but will not push it during pre-season.

During the game, they showed videos of great plays made by Faneca when he was a pro bowler. Then you saw him on the sidelines Monday night. Doesn't look the same player. It looks like he has put on considerable weight.

I agree these guys are the problem. Hopefully it is all a big ruse...

Welcome to "Finger Pointing Time"

Matt hasn't looked particularly stellar.

Part of this is due to the O-line.

But part of this is due to Matt.

The failure of our run blockers to open holes weakens any viable play-action threat and our pass blocking seemed to give him a half-second less time to pull the trigger. (The excuse given is that we haven't yet installed complex blocking schemes and, instead, have asked our blockers to win one-on-one battles - Mmmmm...I'm not sure I totally buy that. Why aren't our linemen good enough to win a higher percentage of one-on-one battles)?

And then there's the lack of Matt's familiarity with his backup receivers. I'm not sure I buy that either - there have been examples on other teams where backup wideouts have come in and haven't skipped a beat.

And we're at a point in the preseason where both Matt and Derek should not be throwing to a zig when the receiver zags. (If they're not working well together, it might be a swell idea to keep them out there from dawn to dusk until everyone is on the same page).

Football is a team sport - and to paraphrase Pogo: "The problem is not "him"; it is us."
