Wtf did Penny eat today? Two just insanely sick moves. He must be having a flashback to his days in Orlando.

You aren't kidding. He is kicking some serious ass right now. If Frank Johnson pulls him out of the game before he cools down on his own or collapses I'm going to lose it.

Maybe the key is having the fans boo him before every game.

No you don't. You just want to see the first quarter.

I missed the part when Penny cooled off - did he do it on his own or did FJ pull him out when he was hot then put him back in?

A little of both. And then in the fourth quarter, he refused to shoot when open. I couldn't understand that at all.

When he was open? I don't think I remember him venturing inside the three-point line the entire fourth quarter.

I don't either, but as long as the Suns' offense was reduced to three-pointers, it might as well have been an open Hardaway than a heavily guarded Marion or a terrified Joe Johnson.

He probably went back to the "game plan" along with the rest of the team.

"(Gordan) Giricek was on me first, and I had it going," Hardaway said. "They switched McGrady to me, and they ran the play for me one more time. After that, they didn't run it anymore."

So Penny has it going, they go to him until it doesn't work one time, and they stop running it. Frank Johnson is a bona-fide moron.

Not to mention if Giricek was no longer guarding Penny Hardaway he had to have been on someone else. Somewhere there was obviously a mismatch to exploit. Anyhow it was the zone defense that shut the Suns down. It was also there God awful perimeter defense that allowed more penetration than a porno actress. It's been pitiful over the last several games, and now they don't have Amare Stoudemire to intimidate in the middle.

Hardaway said he would have liked to at least see what he could do against McGrady.

"I mean, no doubt, get him in foul trouble or something," said Hardaway, who finished with 22 points. "I don't think anybody in the league, one-on-one down in the post, can stop me, honestly, because it's tough to play one-on-one down there.

Exactly, Joe Mama, McGrady was guarding Penny for a good portion of the game after Gordon left him. And the Magic did go to zone a lot. But they also played a lot of man throughout the course of the game, and considering Penny and Shawn were the only two players that could really score last night, trying to see if Penny could get anything going after the 1st quarter was a much better option than kicking the ball around the perimeter until Joe Johnson decided he'd miss another shot. That's the offense the Suns have run all year, and it hasn't been working.

I don't think anybody on this board is surprised that the Suns lost to one of the worst teams record-wise in the history of the league, and with the potential this team had at the start of the season, you have to scratch your head and wonder why.

I know JJ didn't shoot well, but at least he had the balls to take the shot. Someone said he played scared or something like that. I think the rest of the team played scared in the 4th qtr and just passed the ball around the perimeter like it was a grenade that was about to go off. Maybe JJ didn't make the shots he took, but at least he was willing to take the shots. Where were Marbury, Marion or Penny when the game was on the line? They were out on the perimeter passing the ball around and could've made shots for themselves or easier shots for others and they didn't. I know JJ was 3-12 last night, but was he the only problem? Everybody's looking for a scapegoat after every loss and it can never be pinned on one person. I think FJ deserves a lot of the blame, but everyone that played contributed to the loss. There was a total lack of effort from everyone after the 1st qtr. It was like the team assumed that since they scored 41pts in the 1st qtr that the game was over and Orlando would just fold and go cry to their mommies.

Lately there has been trade Marion talk and I think it's ridiculous. I agree that when he and Amare are on the floor that Marion's game tends to suffer. I attribute the majority of it to coaching. Both Shawn and Amare could have their games improved if they learned how to play off of each other, but they need good coaching to teach them how to do it. I like Zarko and I think he's going to be a good player in this league, but he's only played in a handful of games and we don't know how he'll play when he comes back from his wrist injury and people on this board want to hand him the starting job in his rookie year. Then people complain about putting too much pressure on JJ by putting him in the starting lineup.........how will it be any easier for Zarko?

Everyone needs to just relax. I know that this sucks right now, but let's not get drastic. This team needs a real coach with a real offensive and defensive gameplan. The players need time to develop chemistry. They need to get some pride and emotion and energy and find a way to bring it every night. They can still turn this season around and if they don't then it's not a big deal because I doubt they could win a 7 game series against the Lakers and the refs if they even make it to the playoffs.

The fact of the matter is, when discussing trades, our greatest commodity just happens to be Shawn Marion--that doesn't mean he's GOING to be traded, but next offseason out of all our guys, the one guy that could be traded from our end that would net us something really good in return is Shawn Marion. Period. Amare and Steph probably could as well, but out of the three, which one would you give up?

Yes, but arguing that Zarko could just step into the starters role in his 1st year is like saying we should trade Marbury because Barbosa has played well in the 32 minutes he's played this season.

I think Marion's slow start has to do with him taking the majority of the summer off from basketball, poor coaching, the emergence of Amare, added muscle in the offseason, and an injured ankle. I don't want to trade Shawn, Steph, Amare, JJ, Zarko, Barbosa or Voskuhl. Even Casey is showing signs of improvement.

Not quite. Barbosa has had a few nice place, but Zarko has shown a lot more in just a little time than Barbosa. Like I said earlier, we can make all sorts of suggestions for trading Marion, but I don't believe the Phoenix Suns will trade him unless they are getting a bona fide superstar in return.

no offensive to penny but a person who has average 12.53 over the last 5 years and and shot under .445 while doing it i wouldnt say that that no one can stop me. well at least we know that penny is healthy now if he can play defense (for a change then we might win a game).

He didn't say nobody could stop him. He said nobody could stop him in the low post. The Phoenix Suns coaches, especially Frank Johnson, have not utilized this strength and Hardaway's game nearly enough. Come to think of that it's probably the strength of JJ's game also, but they rarely go to him in the low post either.

Let's face it, this coaching staff doesn't have a clue, especially on offense. Sorry, I'm frustrated.
