I'll accept your apology. Green has no position--he was transitioned to h-back/TE as well as getting a few brief--and catastrophic--looks at C. He's far, far less talented in every way than Simmons and, like Simmons, has struggled to nail down a position. How you can come close to arguing that, I cannot say.

And he got a 6th for the guy most teams wouldn't sign or claim on waivers, while Monti only got a move from the 7th to the 5th for a guy who had some quality starts.

Every NFL snap Green has played in an NFL game has been as C or G.

He played a handful of snaps at FB and TE this preseason.

No one is desperate for a failed center turned h-back/TE. LOL at trying to derail the topic.

Yeah, teams with 3 injured IOL who it was rumoured their GM wanted to draft said player when coming out do.

You're quibbling over petty nonsense. You think Simmons was going to get a 3rd or something?

At absolute freaking best you might get a 6th for Simmons. But, quite obviously, nobody offered that, or he would have been traded for a 6th.

I'm not, I'm specifically talking about that move. Green was still a really good prospect a few years ago. The Texans may have had a late first or 2nd round grade on him and they are fooling themselves that they can turn him around. So they traded a marginal pick to get him.

I was trying to avoid this thread, but I will say that Josina Anderson said NFL told her they were surprised the Cardinals didn't get more for Simmons and gave up a 5th for Dobbs. I bring that up because I believe it lends some validity to people's frustrations around Monti's trades so far (outside the draft).
He is a player on a one year rental, that hasn't really shown what he is capable of. I'm a bit surprised we got anything from him at all.

Green was never a really good prospect. Many reports crushed the Stillers for taking him so high--in the 3rd round. As for the rest, yes, that must be their logic, but damn, you could get better talent at the position surfing the waiver wire or signing a cut/UDFA, without giving up any draft capital. That's why I'm so impressed with that trade.

Alas, Simmons is whatever the bad version of a Unicorn is.

This made me LOL. Nice work.

This thread is kind of a troll. Obviously the third-choice GM is going to get circles run around him by one of the best front offices in the game. The stakes right now are low because missteps don't make much of a difference in the W/L record or for the future.

Actually, I might be more upbeat during the season. If we're able to show flashes and keep games close, that'll be a win to me.

Or that too Chief! :) Anything is better than killing each other over what's gone down in the past seven days.

At this point if we could time travel to August of 2024 I think I would probably do so! haha.

Hope the new diggs are working out for you my friend and looking forward to talking about real games with you as soon as possible!

Teams can fool themselves.

You'll see teams take fliers on former top ten picks who flamed out at multiple positions. :)

Again, I was just sharing a Josina Anderson tweet from her contacts around the league, not my feelings.
I'm with ya. I just think that her opinion is different than mine.

No.

Where they were drafted makes no difference. Simmons is a liability snap to snap, 6 splash plays over the course of 700 snaps doesn't make up for the 100 snaps he straight up sucks and gives up a crucial 3rd down conversion, whiffs on a tackle that adds another 6 yards or gives up a TD to lose the game. He's not a reclamation project, there's nothing there to reclaim. The Giants simply didn't mind throwing a 7th away of a guy they know is poor down to down, but they might be able to wring some situational play out of his athleticism if they only use him in the right circumstances.

The Texans traded for Kendrick Green because Kenyon Green was going on season ending IR and they were desperate for interior help. I think Green is a poor player but he went for a 6th because he still has 2 years of control for the Texans to try work on him. Simmons doesn't even have a position to work on in the only year he has left.

Your opinion is always the worst possible opinion of this team. You might as well save yourself the typing and we can all just assume it going forward.
