I thought out dbacks played very well today...and the middle of the field was very solid against the run (Tackles and Hayes). Of course..it could have been that the Chiefs have a very poor receiving core... Until the big play by Johnson at the end..I thought the tackling by the dbacks was decent (well..except for Gonzales for one play..but he is huge). Griffith and Wilson made quite a few tipaways...and the corners seemed to have fairly tight coverage - for the most part. The missed tackles seemed to be coming mostly from the linebackers (maybe Hayes should not be included).

You guys watching on tv have a big advantage of what is going on..so I may be a little off..but being at the game watching it..I thought the dbacks had their best game of the season..

RE Bolded. Are you serious? They were playing soft off the WR all day darn near. Giving 10+ yard cushions at times which is absolutely ridiculous. They were burned on several occasion and thankfully the KC WR's just flat out dropped them. Their tackling was good but there coverage was just average.

Another positive is that there was a second chance to watch the Cardinals win today and they came through. Cards 3rd straight trip to the NLCS.

Green seemed to be on his man....rolle seems to play off..for whatever reason....The trend the past couple of games is for the defense to play well but due to the offensive inability to chew up the clock when they have the ball...the defense seems to eventually wear down. We are giving the opposing offense way too many shots as we cannot get 1st downs on offense.. I will watch the tape later in the week...too painful now...but it did seem the dbacks played better than I was used to...

Eh, some of us got hooked on both teams and we're loyal, I don't see how anyone can hate the Cardinal baseball team they sprinkle championships for other teams all over the place, we're not like the Yankees or anything.

Oh dude that's not right.

Well there's always next decade... :)

So let me get this straight, you've got two managers both comming from previous winning programs and both tanking in a most horrible way.

That's just not right.

I shall respect you more now.

Another Twilight Zone Cardinals tale. Both ShaneH and JohnH are football Cardinals and baseball Cubs fans.

They also didn't tackle LJ on his touchdown....two guys didn't wrap him up...they stopped him, but he just broke through weak tackles and scored. On third down, IIRC.

Inexcusable. I was really mad about that.

I keep wondering where the Antrel Rolle that deserved to be taken in the Top 10 of the NFL Draft is. I'm sorry, but it sure seems to me like Eric Green, a third-round pick, has outplayed him in every level of the game.

Where's the playmaker we thought we were getting?

I can easily hate those Cards. I am a die hard Reds fan. T. LaRussa will again prove to be a piss-poor playoff manager. Na-na-na-na-hay-hay-hay-goood-bye!!

And the Reds and their fans get to watch him on TV in the playoffs every year.

Good lord, the Cards tried everything they could to give the Reds and Astros the division and neither one stepped up. And after that huge missed opportunity by the Reds you post that nonsense. Are you sure you're not a Chiefs fan?

Hey, I'm with you on the post season manager thing, you think I like Tony LaRussa, em no I despise him.

It's odd that I'm stuck with two overated managers on both my teams, albeit at least Tony LaRussa makes it to the playoffs.

Still, can't hate on my team because I don't like the manager and oddly this year I feel good about the Cardinals chances, don't know why but it's now just the best out of 7 two times for it all and really if you get enough cracks at it you never know.

You almost need two managers for major league baseball. One to manage the 162 game season and another for the short series playoffs.

Imagine if the NFL playoff games were only 20 minutes long instead of 60.

A lot of guys, Whitey Hertzog for one, were great long season skippers but stuggled managing short series.

This is similar to your OT bashing, Shane. You never look at the complete picture in your criticism.

Do you honestly believe that every single CB on this team gives that cushion by pure coincidence? You don't think that Pendergast wants them to play that way? Macklin has already been yanked. You don't think Rolle and Green would be too, if they gave a 10 yard cushion on every single play when they were supposed to play press.

Instead of bashing Green and Rolle for giving a 10 yard cushion, how about asking why they are told by Pendergast to give that much cushion?

Ask that question and come back with some constructive criticism!

Along the way you'll probably also find the answer to why Green looks better than Rolle.

Well it really doesnt matter what the play or scheme is in thes situations. Whether it is the player? Whether it is the coaches "system." Whether its the formation. Etc... Etc... It really doesnt matter.

When a team has a 3rd and 5 or a 3rd and 8 or a 3rd and 10 and you have your CBs literally 10-15 yards off the ball and moving backward at the snap there is literally no way to prevent the first down from being converted. That is the main reason we give up so many 3rd and longs. I dont really care whos at fault. Its a MAJOR problem and needs to be fixed.

As far as your OL comments? Well they are laughable. You can make excuses for them all you want with your it was designed this way and that way garbage. But the bottom line is you really dont know what the design is. Regardless of that design the players on thsi OL just dont get the job done ACROSS THE BOARD and that is very eveident game in and game out.

Not to mention a few bad throws by Huard. But you can see where they were badly burnt on the plays. The aggressiveness was good, but just not enough. Matt Ware? Please.

No thanks. He was abysmal! We found out why he was only a STer in Philly and couldnt crack the line-up as a CB.

So you watch the game and call out a random player when something goes wrong.

The CBs are responsible for playing with too much cushion, it has nothing to do the the safety support or DC, because it's the CB giving too much cushion.

The OTs are responsible for giving up a sack, when the QB holds on to the ball for 6 seconds and never moves in the pocket, because it's the OT giving up the sack.

Brilliant!
