Site got rolled back, lost all experience, ranking, money, vehicles etc from last 2.5 days. this really sucks!

Posts: 37 It is with grave humility that we have to announce that Omerta has been rolled back 4 days.

This is due to an attack on the DB servers by an idiot hacker.

The bug has been fixed but unfortunately the most recent backup which we can use is 4 days old.

This is due to a seperate issue, currently under discussion internally.

We realise that nobody will be happy with this but there is only one alternative - a full reset of Omerta.

Enquiries are ongoing internally to establish how such a ridiculous set of circumstances could arise and a new measure has been put in place to prevent this ever recurring.

In the mean time, given the lost ranking, the kills and wars which have occurred in the last four days, we would like to ask you if a better solution than a 4 day roll back would be to fully reset the game, leaving everyone back at square one.

Many people see this as the only fair solution.

During the coming hours we will hope to reach a decision accordingly and we hope to consult with family top 3 players, the Omerta User Group and with rank and file players via this news item and VOTD.

Please see VOTD for a choice - reset or keep this rollback.

NB The final decision will not be determined by the VOTD alone; we will simply be using this as one of several media for reaching a conclusion.

Once again we are embarrased and extremely sorry for the terrible inconvenience.

We wish it was not so.

This game is written in PHP with a MySQL backend..... very well done for what appears to be amateur guys
