Yes but he is either hurt or fell off the cliff velocity wise so I fear those wins we all expected may not materialize anywhere close to expectations

Interesting choice and you almost wonder why Hazen didn't go that route. Duplantier hurt or ineffective in the scrimmages? Very odd.

Probably because Duplantier failed in his earlier chances.
Because he was brought up as a successful starter, but
had to adjust to sitting on-call in the bullpen, and failed.
Just as previously mentioned about Cron and now Varsho.
The manager doesn't know how to, or care to, develop
young talent.
I'll remind you-all about Mike D'Antoni's stupid quote
when he was coaching the SSOL Suns and their 7.5-man
rotations, "It is not my job to develop young players."
I wish that Lovullo would come out and say it, too. It
would hasten his departure.

But 2) does say that a club does not have to use a designated hitter for the game, which seems to say that the Pitcher hits (all game). With pinch-hitters, of course.

I wonder how much of it is the frustration of playing on a team
that has weak starting and relief pitchers, hitters and defense.
And I think he's astute enough to see, especially now following
the fire sale, that the problem is management.
Did the Giants ever go on a 2 & 17 "run"? But, even before, he
was not getting support.
