OpTIMistic news on A.Boldin's Injury?

slanidrac16 said:
is that there are still almost 5 weeks before they count. So maybe as early as game 3 or 4.
Still....geez.

I think as quick as they are to put him out 8-12 weeks it could change for the better. As Dennis Green stated today this is "typically" a 8-12 week injury based on the "individual" player. As we know Quan isn't the average NFL player and im not ready to count him out for that much time just yet. Plus we haven't even heard from Quan about this injury yet. My gut says he will be back in 5-6 weeks for the Cardinals home opener! On a day like this I needed to give ALL of you the opTIMistic view on Boldin's injury.

Adding to the Kool-Aid:

Two of the first three regular season games for the Cards are on turf and that "benefits" Bryan Gilmore's tremendous speed. It could be his chance to really shine and be the home-run threat that he is capable of being.

I hate to admit it but 8 to 10 weeks seems realistic. Read on

Arthroscopy considerably simplifies post-operative recovery. After medial meniscectomy, the patient can walk the day after surgical procedure and will recover his articular motion completely (complete flexion). Often rehabilitation is advised: electrostimulations, stretchings and proprioceptive rehabilitation can accelerate recovery. A lateral meniscectomy may be followed by some swelling during the first weeks. Meniscal repair requires, on the other hand, a different rehabilitation regime. To protect the suture flexion is limited for 4-6 weeks; complete weight bearing is generally allowed, but only when supported by two crutches

Im feeling a little bit better today then i was yesterday. Bryan Gilmore has the speed and Nate Poole showed "clutch" receiving in his limited action last year. They both have to step it up this year. They will. Nice to hear B.Johnson is on the mend as well. Now we just need to go a few weeks with no major injuries and see where we are at by then. Get well soon Quan!!!

My reasons for optimism...

1. Its not a season ending injury.
2. The Cards are deep at the RW position.
3. This ain't daddys first rodeo. Green will have to find a way to win with other talent. If Mac was HC I would throw in the towel, but not with a real head coach. IMO

Number 3 is especially a good point. I've said from the beginning that every player on this team automaticaly got 20% better when Coach Green was hired. Offensive schemes help players succeed. However , players still have to step up and make the plays.
Make no mistake, Q's injury hurts this team. Defenses will no longer have to design their plan around stopping him. That means opponents can double team Fitzgerald. BUT! That means opponents will leave a guy like Gilmore or McCaddley single covered. One of these 2 burners MUST step up if we are to get off to a decent start.

I'm with you. I also think Q will be back sooner than later. He's the Quan.

Even though he is Quan, I DO NOT want him rushing back to try and make the 8 week mark. In fact, I want the Cards to hold him out at least 10 weeks to ensure he is really ready...maybe longer.

Let's face simple facts. This team will not make the playoffs even with Quan. You cannot subtract your 2 top OL from last year, lose your best RB to injury and lose your best proven WR and expect good things to happen. This doesn't even take into account other factors on the offense.

Anquan, don't rush back. Please rest up because you are more important healthy.

Remember people, this is how things started with Swann. Meniscus then microfracture.

Its great to hear opTIMism from other Big Red fans! I really look forward from hearing what Quan has to say about his injury, as that will tell volumes about the time table of his potential return.

I found it interesting todays AZR had the headline "Green opTIMistic" Boldin will return". Just curious if anyone has seen (or heard from) Quan since the surgery? Is he walking around or bed ridden? Just curious...

Green's comment is forewarning to me. That he "hopes to have Boldin back in the first half of the season" tells me his rehab is going to be longer.
