This Irish QB doesn't look horrible either

YEah he played better after my first post. I lost my feed and then went out to dinner but he is still IMO making the right call to go back to school

Wish I would have seen this thread sooner. Love both teams, but was pulling for Penn State. Good problem to have, I guess. Rooting for the Irish moving forward.

When Texas wins tomorrow we are going to REALLY wonder about the targeting penalty

What nobody is talking about is the other non targeting call on the ASU INT.

The other defender went right to the WR's head.

My point exactly. All this gnashing of teeth and hand wringing over what Texas did and that was as blatant as it got. The ASU defender left his feet and went high. I thought it was obvious even in live action the way the Texas receiver's head snapped back.

That play got looked at and was determined not to be targeting. One of those bang bang plays and you could tell the defender pulled back when he likely could have clobbered the other player. It was talked about during the game on the broadcast.

He may have pulled back but it was still a hit to the head and his head went backwards. Both plays were very close and could have gone either way...I am glad they cancelled out.

My point is that everyone is talking about the Texas non-call when you have the same thing on ASU that wasn't called.

He hit him with his shoulder and not his helmet.

The rule prohibits players from initiating forcible contact against an opposing player. That could be leading with the crown of the helmet while making forcible contact or making forcible contact with the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet.

Allar really pick a bad time to have a crappy game. I think he spent too much time close to Franklin and caught Franklinitis, which is a disease of choking in big games and big moments. He really needs another year in college and hopefully he gets invited to the Payton Manning QB camp. If he does he should attend it. He was invited between his Sophomore and Junior year and Franklin talked him out of going and to stay at the college instead. Invites to Manning's camp are highly prized.

good point. if there was some type of texas bias why not overrule that interception? that would have hurt ASU a lot more than the other no call. I feel like Dez still caught it.

Agreed. I don't see how ND can win without being able to throw the ball.
that's why I thought Penn State would win. I was impressed with ND in the end and think they have a chance in the title game. doubt it will be like their last one where they got blown away. but it wouldn't bother if they did.

No need for conspiracies when it's texas and Ohio state. either one would provide a good matchup for ND. I think Ohio State will win though. hope I'm wrong.

The big story is the payout. Making the national championship gets each conference of competing teams like $20mil... South Bend is not in a conference so the fighting Irish get that check all to themselves
