IMHO, just moving Amare's contract would be a win. Howard would make the Knicks a legitimate contender, if not now... later. And I believe they would be able to re-sign him. Who knows, maybe the Knicks end up with Williams too down the line.

The Knicks were better last year before they got Melo. Amare was a having a career year before the trade.

That being said Howard>>>>>>Amare. And the Knicks don't have many extra pieces to include in a deal.

The deal being discussed right now is Amare & Chandler for Hedo & Howard.

I think Orlando would be in great shape going forward with Amare & Chandler. That's the best offer their gonna get for Dwight.

Poor Amare. About to become a really good journeyman.

As for Howard/Melo/Shumpert, regardless of Shumpert's role on the team, Howard and Melo complement each other MUCH better.

Chandler theoretically should be taking up the role of defending and rebounding Melo's chucks, but Howard would be twice as good at that.

Amare theoretically should be taking up the role of a power offensive player, but he's inconsistent (in his offensive assertiveness) and he fades under pressure, so Howard would actually meet those roles properly.

Shumpert is inconsequential, but I know you were just being sarcastic....

.

If the Knicks have to take back Hedo they won't have the money to pursue another max player next summer so DWilliams and Paul etc will be off the table for them.

Howard and Melo are 2 complimentary superstars, they'd have to fill out the remaining roster with support guys.

I think the opposite of the guy. IMO, he plays very well when the spotlight is brightest. Granted, he does struggle against teams that can throw multiple tall guys at him. The Lakers ate him up but he played just fine against Gasol when Memphis didn't have other bigs to assist just as he's played well in his career against Howard in the same kind of situations. I haven't checked lately but his playoff averages use to be well above his regular season numbers.

I'm not so sure about that. It just depends whether he can find a team that wants him that's in a market that Adidas is also interested in. If this deal is really on the table, I can't see it interesting Orlando unless there are other teams involved. It makes no sense for Orlando to take on a contract like Amare's and Chandler is simply not a guy to build around. He's a great complementary piece that's being given a lot more attention than he deserves because he finally shined when placed in an optimum situation. Unfortunately for him, there may not be another Dallas out there.

I think Gasol and Bynum would be better.

You're right and it's not even close IMO. Gasol and Bynum is a much better deal for Orlando, whether it's straight up or part of a multi-team deal.

If I was Orlando, I would be asking for Gasol, Bynum, and that Dallas pick. I think there is a good chance the Lakers would do it. The key is for there to be other teams bidding. Orlando ought to be letting it out to the media that they are really thinking about the Knicks deal and that Howard would be likely to sign there long term.

Got to grease the wheels some.

The Knicks already don't have the money to pursue another max player because of the contract they gave Tyson Chandler.

So its a moot point.

So it means that their basically equaling out in terms of money.

But the difference is Chandler is actually productive while Hedo is...well Hedo. ;)

They would have bird rights to sign Howard. They must think Shumpert is the real deal. Their big 3 would be Shump, Melo, and Dwight.

If only the Suns could have drafted Morris and Shumpert, they would have well been on their way to rebuilding. I believe the Suns were trying to figure out a way to draft both.

but Nash would be a FA and perfect for that team.
Until fatigue sets in. Look how we played when Steve had the bruised rib. And how we are playing now with him running around, shooting and passing like a spring chicken. He would be perfect for the Knicks . . . when he is perfect.

One reason we never won anything with Nash all these years is that we tend to overuse him in regular season.

Maybe because they wanted to get to the postseason since the backups were pathetically awful.

Yes, the Suns would use him in the regular season until they used him up. Sometimes I would think, enough already, because he would get so visibly get tired his legs and shot would go. Even in the playoffs he would play to exhaustion. I wanted to win but not at the expense of his body.
