I got an email today with a bunch of specials on Groupon for the Bay ARea. At least 4 of them are discounts from 179 to 125 each for tickets to a 49ers game including the Cards game upcoming. This stuff only happens when they are having trouble selling tickets.

I assume some organization had a bunch of tickets they couldn't sell and gave them to Groupon.

Still way too much for me to go to a game in person but considering how new the stadium is pretty startling. I know people who are trying to sell their season tickets and then use the money to buy the tickets on the Groupon deal.

Cards tickets come up on Groupon from time to time. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Probably true but the stadium is so new and there's been lots of talk already about people bailing on season tickets and how prices on stubhub are falling.

They are actually going to have problems filling that stadium soon I suspect if they don't fix the issues.

Cards games on Groupon are for Preseason...not reg.

49ers fans will be dumping tickets. Many bought because of the new stadium and many bought to scalp thinking good team last year...not seeing the demise coming and they could invest in tickets and make some money.

Shoot I bet on game day you can get a ticket there for $30...it's like the good ole' Cardinals at ASU days....but tickets were had at $10

On stubhub there are 11k+ tickets available for the last 3 49ers games, starting at $50. $30 on gameday might be high! I remember being elated to get $15 a ticket when we had extras to sell in the SDS days.

I've heard but not seen for myself it's taking your life into your own hands trying to buy or scalp tickets near the stadium. Reports of people trying to sell getting beaten up by security. I guess they're pretty strict about it you have to be the legal distance away from the stadium or they will bust you.

Not much doubt about their " DEMISE " when they bench Kap in favor of a QB (Gabbert) that is 0 and 10 in his last 10 NFL starts !!!!!

Those are incredibly cheap considering how much the fans have to pay for a license to buy tickets there. The majority of their loyal fan base was out priced when they were required to buy a license. Let alone get to the new location which is a logistical nightmare.

It's not THAT bad to get here. A big part of the fan base was south of SF anyways. Most fans can get to the stadium via 101 or 880 to 237. I live a few blocks away, there's definitely traffic but it's not THAT hard. The parking lot getting in to the stadium takes longer than the Stick did that's been pretty clear but they've gotten much better at that.

The main problem is as you said they priced some people out and if you're going to do that, you sure as hell better put a good team out there.

Speaking of ticket prices, Ohio State has moved into the price gouging business. Face value for tickets is normally $70. I found out yesterday that next year for their "premium" games they are charging $200 for Michigan and Nebraska as face value.

I can see charging a premium, maybe make those games $95-$100. But charging almost 300% face value is worse than scalping, but somehow scalping is illegal.

That means, if I did the math correctly, OSU will seat about 108,000 at $200/ticket is $21,600,000 they'll bring in just for those 2 games, before concessions and parking.

Is there a groupon for an armed escort to get you in and out of there? Going to a bay area sports venue as a fan of the opposition is risky.

This is definitely true.

Hell I just got a new Cards ski cap/beanie and wore it out for a walk the other night. Fine in my own area but a couple of blocks closer to the stadium I'd have been a walking target.
