I think what bugged me the most was when he broke the record and the Broncos fans acted like they were a really important part of it. Did the Vikings fans act like that over Favre? Nope.

Glad this was posted. I feel a growing hatred for the Broncos because of all these fans jumping on the manning wagon. Should be interesting when manning retires and Denver becomes a non elite team, how many people jump off the wagon. I guess what really peeved me was the Thomas chop block. When I was at the game in Denver I even bought a broncos shirt just to have. I can't get myself to wear it. Used to have no problem with them til now. Maybe I should do a giveaway on the forum for it! :p

Manning had a lot of fans in Indy because of the type of player he is. I'm a big Manning fan. He is the best of all time IMO. Why shouldn't people be a fan of him?

Farve had already broken the record before he went to the Vikings.

All the bad calls mentioned, last year against the Eagles, the bad calls against the suns through the years?

Remember, you may be paranoid but it doesn't mean they're not following you.... :D

I'm not so sure sometimes Jet. An NBA official admitted as much for the NBA so it stands to reason that it happens in all leagues. Now, bad calls happen but anyone with 1 working eye can tell the difference between a simple blown call due to human error and a blatant 'homer' or favored team type calls. I remember such a call back in 1984. Cards were home playing the Cowboys. Cowboys go up 24-17 in the 4th quarter. Neil Lomax throws a bomb to your namesake. TD...but wait, there's a flag down field. Now when you see a flag in this instance, 99.999999999999996% of the time it's defensive pass interference which is declined, TD stands. Even Lomax thought so because he's running down field with his hands up signifying TD. Nope, official calls offensive PI on Green even though replay after replay showed that Walls was trying to pin Green's left arm down. If the Cards win that game, they win the division as long as the rest of the games stay as they were.

Cowboys/Cards again 1998. Cowboys go up 28-0 in the first half(first half ends 28-7 as Cards score with seconds left in the half. 2nd half comes and the Cards chip away. 28-14...Pokes score to go up 35-14, game is seemingly over by now. Nope. Cards fight back. 35-21...35-28...then the Cards are in the red zone, Plummer throws to the endzone to, IIRC, Rob Moore who is absolutely blasted in the endzone. No call. Simply blatant calls that go the Cowboys way. That is not a coincidence.

I still remember the replay of that and they showed a little boy in Cardinal gear looking on in disbelief after that. Deon Sanders ran off the field, and basically said they got away with that one in a interview afterwards and how he never wanted to play Plummer again... but we punked them in playoffs and it made it extra sweet with 'The Snake' doing his best 'Broadway Joe' we are number one at the end of the game :)

I hate Denver now but I'm a big Manning fan. There's nobody in the league even close that can put the ball where he puts it on such a consistent basis. And to play like he's playing after 3 neck surgeries is the stuff of legend. When he's gone people are going to realize how great he was.

Having said that, my dream scenario is still for our Cards to meet them in the SB for a revenge game and to win it.

To be clear I agree, Manning is amazing. I just get the feeling that they are getting a very disproportionate amount of calls in the games I'm watching.

It's like after the Superbowl last year the NFL said we don't want Seattle winning that way, their pass defense is too good. So let's take away all contact by DB's, give WR's free run to pick off DB's, and get an offensive team to win.

I agree with you there. I'm basically an old school football fan. I think going over the middle should be dangerous, like it used to be. I don't like the new rules nor the new CBA.

I also think there's an element of truth to the Broncos getting calls. The NFL would love nothing more than for Manning to win the SB, after everything they've been dealing with regarding domestic violence--and just their brand to begin with, without any extraneous stuff. The NFL wants Kurt Warner to get into the hall this year and Manning to win the SB. Two wholesome brands they can hang their hat on.

Having said all that, Manning would be awesome in any era, pretty sure we all agree on that. His ball placement is like Dan Marino ball placement and I think Marino could possibly be the greatest pure passer ever, or at least tied with Manning. Either of them could play on any team in any era and be the best QB in the league.

No he didn't. An NBA official that was guilty of gambling on NBA games ACCUSED some referees of calling games based on who they believed the NBA wanted to win. Big difference.

Steve

There is a lot of evidence to show that the officials are told to call games a certain way. I'm trying to find the article but there was one I read where several unnamed sources tell of a directive from the league office about giving star players preferential treatment. Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference finals is the most ridiculously officiated game I've ever seen and was the catalyst for me not being into the NBA as much as I once was. The 2013 finals were just as bad.

They're far and away the best team in football. Remember they basically added Von Miller (back from injury), Ryan Clady. (back from injury), Aqib Talib, TJ Ward, DeMarcus Ware and Emmanuel Sanders. They lost DRC and Eric Decker.

Tom Brady must be sick watching a team go all in like that...

Tom Brady's been to 5 Super Bowls, won 3, and the 2 he lost were both on circus catches. I don't think he has any regrets.

That would be the ultimate, the Cards beating the Broncs in the Super Bowl.

But, I'm not going to miss Manning anymore than I miss Favre or Joe Montana. In fact, I'm sick of him and will be happy to not have to hear the media relentlessly smooch his anal sphincter on every single NFL show.

I had this argument in another forum. While Manning is a great QB, and he is, believe me, he is not the best of all time. Top 5? Yes. Maybe even top 3 but the only thing keeping him above Marino in the great in the regular season but not so great in the playoffs is that at least Manning has a ring. Manning has shown his entire career that during the regular season, he's money. Come playoff time he wilts faster than a flower in an oven. Even in his Super Bowl win he was less than stellar. Hell, he once lost, 41-0, to Chad Pennington and the Jets not to mention in 2008 he lost to SD in a performance that would have made Max Hall look good. IMO, It's Montana, Brady, Elway(wouldn't be anywhere near here if not for his final 2 seasons) Manning, Marino.

Op forgot the kick off return fumble. But yea agreed on everyone else.

The Broncos are the new Patriots. They will get favorable calls and BS calls in every game to help them win.

I hope Seattle makes the SB if Denver makes the SB from the AFC because it's still likely we see a repeat of the Seahawks domination if they do. Peyton continues to choke on the biggest stage against tough teams.

What's funny about Thursday's game is that the Chargers were missing NINE starters and the Broncos still needed the refs help to win. Lolz.

Montana vs Manning vs Brady is debatable and no clear answer there. However, Elway shouldnt even be in the discussion. Career completion % of 57, less than 80 QB rating. Great QB yes, but not top 5, top 10 yes.

I kind of agree but if you recall there WAS a PI call, in the end zone, that got overturned last night. That is the refs convened and then agreed no PI and said so. ANd then CBS' ref guy Mike Carey very clearly stated the appropriate call in his opinion was in fact Pass interference.

That call was against Denver and overturned so Denver got the break on that one too.
Was that the play when Talib had clearly pinned the receivers arm and got away with it?

I have noticed a LOT of teams running those pick plays this year. It doesn't get called very often for any team.

It will probably be the "focus" after Peyton gets his SB ring :)

Yeah like Notre Dame last week with .03 seconds left. LOL
