Michael Beasley is pretty hard on himself sometimes. Beasley received his first minutes of playing time and he was great. He scored nine points in his first five minutes of action and was diving on the floor and doing things coaches generally like to see out of players trying to make a roster. Of course, Beasley also did something a little odd after one offensive play. Upset with himself over missing a shot, Beasley started punching himself in the head while running back on defense. He punched himself so hard that he needed treatment after the game from the Heat's trainer. Steel compresses (like the ones cut doctors use in boxing) were applied to Beasley's brow in the locker room.

Damn, miss him already....

Did it say how many times he swung before he finally connected?

In a related experiment, Lebron James had Beasley try to hit himself in the head 100 times, and Beasley connected on 34 of them.

Sounds about right.

At one extreme of the NBA, we had one Michael -- His Airness.

Now we have the other extreme, another Michael -- His Flakiness. What a flake!

Interesting article on the Heat site about Beasley.

They say he is taking a step forward and showing improvement and discipline in this young season.

Is it better coaching than the Suns last year?

Or the influence of 2 1/2 superstars?

Or both?

It doesn't change the Suns having to get rid of him, because it wasn't going to happen here.

I could be maturity, it might the typical optimistic puff piece that always comes out about players like Beasley, it could be he's surrounded by talent and isn't counted on for much and I'm sure I've not thought of some of the other possibilities. Regardless, he was a bad player in Phoenix and we are better without him.

Its just a typical puff piece. The same garbage has been written about Beasley early in each year for about 4 years running, by the all-star break he proves his doubters right.

In other news, Miami has gone from one of the best defensive squads to one of the worst. Beasley may not even be playing... but his suck is spreading through osmosis.
