Not able to beat out Dalton. Your turn.
That’s a ridiculous statement considering the HC has been Lewis is the reincarnation of the mediocre Jeff Fisher & the QB he has started for years has been as well. I would say Lewis isn’t the sharpest tool in shed either. He does repeatedly keeps a bunch of thugs in his locker room & keeps thinking they will eventually change too.

It’s a decision based on preference, money & draft status imo. Starting the redhead doesn’t mean he’s the best QB on the roster, it’s the perception he is & the previous reasons. You watch, once Lewis is gone Dalton will be as well. I guess the Falcons weren’t dumb for thinking Chris Miller & Billy Joe Tolliver were better than Brett Favre either

You have your opinion I have mine.

You’re turn lol

I heard on the radio this week (Mike Jurecki) that the Cards worked out McCarron before the draft in 2014 and were very interested in him. However, they also worked out Logan Thomas and BA, being a grad of Virginia Tech, pushed drafting Thomas over McCarron. We all know how that turned out.
Jurecki also said that the Cards are interested in McCarron and were starting to watch tape on him of his preseason games.
He also said during that segment that the Cardinal's brass was turned off by McCarron's ego and personality. Said that he felt entitled coming from 'Bama and that they're hoping a few years of being in the league has humbled him a bit.

This is the guy I want and already stated so. He would be a great bridge for a young QB who might even be better than you think. People talk about Keenum, but I think he is way better. As far as not beating out Dalton... the Bengals can run their organization however they want, and I want McCarron :)

JG, we finally agree on something!

You refer to McC as a bridge for a young QB. McC is only 27 (28 in Sept). Why would you see him as a bridge and not as 'the guy.'

As I said, he might even be better than you think. I am making an honest assessment which makes the bridge term solid footing and he just might be able to take you past that bridge... that is why I want him :)

Wonder if he'd be amenable to something along the lines of what Glennon got in terms of yearly average, but with additional guaranteed money tied to above-average QB stats. Interception and TD rate, completion percentage, etc.

Mitch, why wouldn't McCarron want big money. Not saying he deserves it, but it seems only natural.

Sure, Garth. PFW just posted a thread asking is A.J. McCarron this year's Case Keenum or Mike Glennon? After hearing reports that McCarron wanted big money, he came out and said that he doesn't really care about the money---he just wants to play and win. if that's the case, then if the Cardinals like what they see in him, they could make a move and sign him to an incentives laden contract. That---and, of course---draft a QB.

I just don't know if McCarron is going to be a quality starter as he has sat on the bench the last two years.

Cards will max out their cap space if they go after Cousins---he's going to want at least as much as JG. The $10 mil you speak of will leave us having to fill slots---I assume you are looking at cuts of guys like HB, Veld, Iupati, Gresham, etc. Even if AJ McC 'only' wants what Glennon received, we will be left with about $12-14 mil to fill out the roster with FA. It's supposed to be a retool, not a rebuild. It is the comparison of what Cousins will demand over what AJ (or other FA) will command that makes AJ someone who should be on the radar.

Next year, Cards will have plenty of cap. Not this year.

Cutting Iupati & D Buc saves $15mil. I don't think Iupati played more than 2 games last year so his spot was already filled. I'm sure we can find just as good an ILB for less to fill Buc's position..

I don’t see anyway Keim or Wilkes want Bradford as it’s QB, zero.

If your like checkdowns & 7 yard passes then Sam is your guy, IF he’s even able to play. Personally I think he’s knees are shot!

Wilkes is a D coach. D coaches love game managers. Therefore K & W love dump them off Bradford.

What evidence do you have he’s not? :moon:
5.71, 5.93 and 5.17 yards per attempt in his last three starts. Only 5tds in 4 starts. Not end all stats but I don't think you can say either way based on his four starts in 2015.

I'm sure they'd love McCarron and his high flying 6.92 yds per attempt avg, might be a match made in heaven!

Whomever they draft in the first round, let's hope that they are asked to play a position for the Cards that THEY'VE EVER PLAYED BEFORE.
If we're not asking DJ Humphries to play right tackle, we're asking Deone Bucannon to play inside linebacker, and then asking Haason Reddick to do
the same. Ooohh, ooohhh , then we can have Brandon Williams play cornerback and Evan Boehm play guard.

And what proof you have that he’s better then Dalton? Present your evidence.
There is no evidence. His body of work doesn't play it out. But nice job blowing off the rest of my post about backups who turned out to be hall of fame QB's when given the chance. Hell, Kurt Warner and Tom Brady started out as backups. I mean using your logic, Brett Favre should have been run out of the league after his first pass attempt was a pick 6.

And then there are backups that turned to crap, like clipboard jesus, Flynn, or our own Kevin Kolb. Not necessarily disagreeing with you on McCarron, but using guys like Warner or Favre isn't necessarily a solid argument. If the Cards choose to go after AJ, they should insist on a contract that they can get out of after the first year or 2.

Have not watched any games of McCarron in the NFL but he was a good game manager at Alabama. Seemed smart and was a high percentage thrower. I would compare him to Alex Smith. He is not as good as Smith but that type of player.

If we were to sign him it would be as the starter. He would get too much money not to start. I think he gets 12 to 16 mill.

Aj would be our new Drew Stanton but without having Carson Palmer available to beat him out in training camp.

+1

This board is going to be EXTREMELY upset when the Cardinals sign their veteran QB. I am sure of it.
That would be foolhardy because as of now the number of QB's on this team numbers zero. I do believe they will sign a vet and draft a QBOTF. It's just logical when you have no QB's on your roster. The only other option is to go full Eagles, draft a QBOTF, throw him to the wolves and have a veteran backup just in case.
