OT: Betting Apps Ripoffs

Man, do these sites passively rip you off anymore! I finally figured out how to make money on the Cards this year--bet on them to cover. The problem? The betting apps are all giving almost EXACT odds for them to cover and not cover. WTF is that? And, of course, it's always bet more to win less. Um, no, that's not how betting works. Ripoff artists, the lot of them.

Never used, never plan to. I'd hate losing much more than I'd love winning - and I'm one of those people who just loves watching sports and having something personally riding on it makes me enjoy it less (that's why until I got dragged into a league this year, I had given up fantasy football for several years -- and have also sworn off NCAA basketball brackets).

Um... they're all like that. You take a 50/50 shot, and they'll usually pay about 190% of the money you put in.

It's called the Vig. If you're looking for other outcomes, you can find alternative lines deeper in the apps that change the juice. The vig is how the casinos make money on 50/50 outcomes (ideally they get equal action on both sides of the spread, so for every sucker that bets to beat the spread there's a wise guy taking the points.

This is a weird thing to be mad about for someone who's as worldly as you are.

One of my favorite prop bets are the anytime TD scorer. I seem to have a good feeling about those. I bet Rondale Moore would have been around +1100 if you placed that bet for example.

My dad played a four-game moneyline parlay last week in the NFL and it was all the big favorites. Jags screwed him before the Cards had a chance to, and the upside was like +115.

You can parlay the five top powers in the EPL most weeks and get like 5-1. Your bets cashed by kickoff of the early NFL games and you're playing with house money.

Unless Arsenal can't get a result against Tottenham.

Oh, I know the house still has the slight edge in Blackjack. You just have to play smart, be ready to change tables, and be ready to walk away when you hit your winnings goal. I've won much more than I've lost on blackjack. If I sit down and double my money, I'm good to go. I'll never (well, rarely) win big, but I win more than I lose.

I always said... I don't gamble. I play poker and bet on football.

But Vegas even ***** up football betting.

I did those two because both can have a very high success rate. But I don't study the nfl like I used too... who knows ....what if nick boss is getting married Saturday and he invited the entire defense. That's gotta be worth 7 points...
So... poker it is. Unfortunately the cardhouse banned me.
