i open my mail today and it turns out that i was ticketed for speeding after the Philly game . It says i was traveling at 77 mph. I guess that's possible but makes no sense. After the game, i dropped Wisconsin Card off by his sisters. Here's where it doesn't make sense. We didn't stay around a long time after game because i thought it would be forever to get out of there. Turns out it wasn't long at all. I got ticketed at 5:17. My plane didn't leave until 7:45 so it's not like i was in a hurry especially after we got out of there so quickly. Also, i didn't drink at all during the game so my judgement wasn't clouded.

My question for anyone in out there is how do i contest this from afar? They told me they ticket at 12 mph over the speed limit which is what they had me at. It's really not feasable for me to fly out there to fight it. This kind of po's me because and makes me not want to return to Arizona just based on principle because i don't see how i can i contest it.I'm not an unreasonable person. I could see if i was running late and in a hurry. No problem. But the thought that i could be speeding never even crossed my mind. In fact, iirc, i was in the right(slow)lane the entire time to the airport listening to the Cards post game and am not sure if i even passed anybody.

Of course, now i expect Wisconsin Card to come in here and say the SOB was driving like a bat out of hell and i was just glad he got me to where i needed to be :D.

EDIT: this was done through the video ticketing program they have out there. So, all you travelers, they are watching you. How accurate is that thing anyway?

ignore it

they have no proof that you have been officially "served" with the ticket --

and they arent going to hire an out of state process server for a speeding ticket

case will be dismissed in 120 days

Might wait for another answer, but I don't think there is a way to contest it. They'll have a picture of you, usually they'll have that included in what they send you.

From what I hear that picture with the speed on it and the time is pretty much golden from how the courts see it.

There are people who don't answer to it, then they send like collections agents or process servers or something to 'serve' people with their citation. Although I don't know if they do that for out-of-state people.

Another way is if the picture doesn't look like you, you can say it wasn't you driving, thus you aren't responsible.

There have been errors though. There's a bunch of them on red lights around my area, and one time when I taking a right turn, I noticed the camera going nuts and snapping pictures like crazy. It was hitting everyone going through a green light. I'm sure that was fun to clear up, for both sides.

Not sure what to do, but that's whatever low brow info I have.

Unless of course the court is an avid ASFN reader

I am in the process of one of thesemfor makinmg a turn on red....which is perfectly legal in Illinois, unless a sign is up....which is was not and is not. They just installed these...anyway....I read the law and the owner of the car is responsible HERE regardless of who is driving. I don't know about the out of town thing....I guess I would ignore that if it is through a photo...I just send my protest in and am awaiting a hearing date. I don't know how it is possible to be found guilty of this...2 photos to right turns within 2 minutes....$200.

Even though I was driving my wifes car with NM plates, I thought for sure I was going to get a ticket. I saw the camera flash when I was doing about 90+ on the 101. Been several weeks, I guess they didn't get me

Photo radar is a numbers game

they count on people seeing the ticket, seeing its them and sending in a check.

Those with local addresses -- they might go through the trouble to hire a process server. At that point, you end up paying the ticket and the process server fee.

I have heard ( and this was just for a local municipality) that for PO Boxes and out of the valley addresses they dont bother with a process server. Waste of money.

I have talked to people who live in Arizona about this. Unless you're officially served, they say ignore it.

Ignore it. My buddy had a few photo radar tickets over the years and he always ignores them. He recently got another one and he lives like he is being hunted by the mafia. He doesn't answer the door to anyone he doesn't know. He started driving past his house when he saw a car that he didn't recognize parked by his house. Then one day, he pulled into his garage and was unloading his daughter from the car seat and a guy ran into his garage and served him and charged him $20 more for the processor fee. Arizona is broke and they are ruthless but if I were you, just wait to be served but you'll probably never here about this again.

I doubt anything will happen if you don't pay it. Just be REAL careful if you return to Arizona. If you get pulled over they may have a warrant on record.

Ignore ignore ignore.....they have to PHYSICALLY serve you within 120 days; otherwise, the statute of limitations runs out and the charges are dismissed. Trust me, they will not chase you to CBUS for $190

I am a lawyer. Ignore it. Arizona state law requires personal service in all civil matters, which INCLUDE traffic matters. There is no way in hell they will attempt to serve you in another state. Hell, they won't even serve me and I just live one county over.

This is exactly right. I read about the new sheriff in Pinal county that has refused to serve the photo tickets because he doesn't believe in them and feels they are just a revenue gimmick.

They really can't be served by some company that was hired to do the photo radar. I believe they don't have leagal standing unless the sheriff signs and serves them and he has refused. he has for all intents and purposes shut down all photo radar in Pinal county.

This was a rental car right? I can't believe they actually found you. WoW.
Yes, it was a rental,in Phoenix, with Colorado plates on it. Yet i get something in Columbus,Ohio . I'll probably just do like most say and ignore unless i keep getting things from them. BTW, thanks to all for the advice.

If it was a rental car, that means the rental car company gave away his information, which I'm pretty sure is illegal.

There is no possibility for a warrant. You're fine with that.

First of all you were drunk as a skunk. I had to seat my self in twice as tight, and I doubled my life insurance just to ride the two miles with you.

Hell you ran over two old ladies and an Eagle fan just getting out of the parking lot.

Ok you actually missed the Eagles fan, but I opened the door and got him. :D
