I didn't say defensive anchor, although I don't understand why the highest level of defense concentrated on an opponent's starting point of attack would necessarily be a bad thing...... Plain and simple, defense and offense are not mutually exclusive. The more defense a team plays is a good thing, and a pg that plays defense is better than a pg that doesn't play defense.

If a PG is also a primary scorer (in the case of Thomas) then his defense can be covered for more or less by surrounding him with defensive bigs. Yeah sure it's nice if a PG can play both sides of the ball but they aren't going to throw IT away because he cant defend like a bigger pg could.
I agree defense should be more of a team culture.

If IT was your 3rd best player then yes. Certainly couldn't win it with him as your best player.
