Does it really matter AF? The Fins didn't & don't need the legal system to fire the dude. Chad's reputation & past ignorance is why he's gone despite your innocence before proven guilty theory...the blame is squarely on his shoulders. Ocho Stinko is scum anyway you paint the strokes IMO. I find it really hard to believe anyone who defends him, TO, Lawrence Phillips, or Pacman to any extent. They always play the victim because "they are labeled" instead of accepting responsibility for the actions or words they do over & over & over. All of them have a track record, so I'm not buying the theory of innocence.

I'm thinking his wife filing for divorce speaks volumes of what actually happened.

Could you please humor me and tell me what Chad has done to deserve the moniker of "scum" as you stated. Because he wore a HOF jacket on the sideline of a game? Because he playfully bantered with his coworkers before and after games? Because he tweets his fans and enemies alike? Because he had gold caps on his teeth? Because he drives a Prius? Because he had trouble picking up the playbook in NE (and Miami I guess)Because he was on dancing with the stars? Because of his fake news network?

Seriously? I'm just trying to understand your thought process?

Of course it matters Bucky. Because you are obnoxious doesn't make you a criminal. The Dolphins are well within their right to cut him. I Just think its unfortunate.

Chad should have realized marrying that psycho was going to end up bad, I'm just not sure he realized it would effect his playing career.

Despite the dropped 2000 incident, Chads never been a Guy that breaks the law. He doesn't drink, go out, and act violent. You think it's a coincidence that he marries a reality starring, hair pulling, bottle throwing, punch throwing, gold digging hoe and THEN ends up in the police blotter? You know why she divorced him (and likely the reason behind the sham marriage all together?

Because they cancelled their reality TV show. Not because she was "head butted" ....lol this woman has taken much worse in episodes of basketball wives from other women. Her opportunity to remain relevant was gone, so she's out the door.

It's so easy to hear "man hits woman" or "drinking and driving" and get all holier then thou and gloss over actual details and scream and wail to "Lock him up!" because that's the lazy answer rather then you know, actually waiting for the facts to come out.

Maybe it turns our Chad did do this and I'm wrong and he deserves any/all punishment he gets.

But I live in South Florida. I have met Chad. I have met Evelyn. There's more here then meets the eye. I'll just leave it that.

And yes I felt bad for Chad on last nights episode, Dude was hungry to prove himself after last year and was busting his ass. Bottom line he doesn't rush into marriage with Evelyn, he's likely making the Opening Day roster and has a chance to redeem himself. But that's not gonna happen now.

Guy gets cut and divorced in 48 hours. I'll wait till he gets formally convicted before rushing to judgement like some others here.

That's what people don't get about Ocho. yes he likes attention. yes hes obnoxious. yes he wants desperately for people to think he's funny.

But he's A) all about winning b) super loyal c) a genuinely good person (did you hear how he gave an all expense paid trip to a 50 year old Caucasian woman who was recently widowed and reached out to him on Twitter?).

Follow him on Twitter. He's constantly offering encouragement, randomly giving out money and presents, meetimg fans for lunch and on and on and on.

He's not scum. Bucky groups him with the most divisive cancer in football history, a coked up pedophile, and a complete thug who paralyzed a man? Not even close. Chads well liked by most in the NFL. They just think he is crazy.

Well see if he gets another job but I'm pulling for him,

Irrelevant...

Chad's rights in this matter ended where her forehead began.

Really? How so?

I'm with AF on this one. She seems like she'd do anything for attention/money. It sure sounds like Chad did it, but how do you know there weren't aggravating factors in this situation? Everyone has rights. Chad has them as does his soon to be ex wife. Chad's act got old and stale, but he seems like a nice enough guy who loves his job. I hope he gets a chance to resurrect his career with another team. That "lady" is no saint.

,

Don't forget about this one, which was one of the coolest things I've seen any modern day athlete do for any fan. One moment of weakness does not make someone "scum".

Where is the rush to judgment if someone clarifies their comments by first saying "IF he did this" ??

I love Chad and have followed his entire career and all his silly antics. But if he has temper issues so bad that he'd head-butt a woman (I don't care who she is) he deserves to get some grief for it. Period. Many in the sports world are saying that something has seemed a bit off with Chad lately. Maybe he just realizes his time in the spotlight is growing short...

Regarding DUI (since you brought it up) - if you do drink and drive you are an idiot and a loser. You can kill yourself and others out on the road. It is wrong and horrible when ANYONE does it. It is worse in the eyes of many when the person drinking and driving has millions and could afford a personal driver and has a league that will provide free rides at any time. There is NO excuse for any player to ever be pulled over for DUI.

I agree he does deserve to get grief for it. It was wrong, he made a mistake and he owned up and apologized for it. The amount of grief he is getting though is overblown.

And Dez Bryant's mom is a prostitute (allegedly). Doesn't mean either of them deserve to be slapped or head-butted by the men in their lives.

I never once said they did, but I can empathize with Chad Johnson. It's an isolated incident and should be treated as such. He owned up and apologized, like a man should, was punished and now it's time to move on.

Dez Bryant is a completely different situation. He is known to have anger issues, by all accounts refused people's help and mentoring and it's just one more event in a pattern of events. I cannot empathize with that.

It's not isolated if it's his second arrest on the same offense, IMHO. Many years apart but it shows he had and may still have anger issues. As Russ posted (and I've re-posted below), he dragged his feet fulfilling his court ordered duties after the incident in college. Maybe he and Dez at that age weren't really all that different when it comes to their temper/anger management. Both were in denial and didn't take offers of help (court ordered or not) very seriously.

Now being reported he not only pleaded no contest to domestic abuse in 2000, he failed to complete the court ordered duties as a result of it and was given more court ordered duties. The conviction was 2000, he finally finished doing what the court ordered him to do in 2002 when he was about to start wtih the Bengals.

Obviously a much younger guy but it shows he has a history.

Chad has been clean since college - no arrests for anything. That's commendable. That compounds this incident for many. Why all of a sudden does this good guy snap? That plus the speculation that he hasn't seemed right lately might indicate he is going through some stuff and may need help/counseling of some kind. Wouldn't hurt.

It's a basic tenet of Common Law. My rights end where yours' begin. In assault cases it's expressed as "my rights end where your nose begins". Short of convincing a court that he was in fact the person assaulted or that he acted in clear self-defence, a possibility, he'll be found quilty. Who she is as a person is irrelevant to the case to be presented unless there is evidence, which may-or-may not be accepted, showing previous pertinent acts.

It does not matter if she is the queen of all drama. He made the choice to marry her, he knew exactly what he was getting. A bunch of attention seeking lunatics, I have no sympathy for any of this. If anyone, in any profession, had a very public spat of beating their wife it would likely cost them their job.

I know nothing about her. Zip.

But if she's so questionable and if she'll do anything for money he's the dumbest guy on the planet for marrying her. I don't want the dumbest guy on the planet on my team.
