I know I personally feel morally superior when buying an item made by children in the Honduras or Asia from a British subsidiary of a German company at $150 a pop instead of paying $25 for a jersey that also comes from a foreign country that is often better quality
Adidas was tagged due to production conditions in one of their plants in El Salvador where 18 teams had their jerseys manufactured. It was found they were being cheated of wages, making on average $49.32 a week instead of the $59.76 that should have been owed. This is for a 57 1/2 hour workweek. So even on the high end that is a little over $1 per hour. Production goal was 9 jerseys per hour. So that is about 12 cents per jersey.
I'm not here to necessarily debate or judge that practice .... I just can't blast someone for buying an overseas knockoff in lieu of supporting the above
For what it's worth, my Majestic MLB jersey is made in the US by a company based out of PA - the replica jersey with tackle twill lettering/numbers/logo is the same price as a screen printed NFL replica and a lot better quality
