I'm not sure what game you were watching at that point... Prior to the TD, the Vikes only called runs up the middle and two *very* short *very* high % passes to keep the clock moving. It's not the Vikings fault that the 'Boys couldn't tackle turning those short passes into longer plays.

On the TD play: There were three receivers running routes. 1.) FB in the flat just short of the first down 2.) Greg Lewis dragging from right to left just past the first down marker and 3.) shiancoe in the end zone

If the Cowboys wanted the clock to run out, they should have given up the first down rather than cover the short routes and leave the TE in the endzone as the only option.
the problem for the cowboys is that the HC was still not throwing the towell in. it reminds me of the pacquiou/cotto fight when manny was lighting his arse up, but cotto nor his trainers would throw in the towell so pacquio was like...ok well i can't stop beating the shi!znick out of you. at that point wade phillips should have thrown in the towell and protected his players. I think this is a wade phillips problem not a keith brooking problem. brooking was just being an emotional guy which is what he always does. I would like to see jerry let wade go....he's just too polarizing for me to figure out.

I recall some Cards fans angry that the Saints went for it on 4th late...they picked up the fourth down and ran out the clock.

I thought the Saints showed excellent restraint.

regardless of teams --

I think throwing a pass there is a cheap call.

It wouldn't surprise me to learn the Favre simply called his own play in the huddle to pad his stats.

From what I heard today on a radio station here in Dallas was that Favre was interviewed after the game for an explaination & he stated the Cowpies kept kicking FG (3) in an out of hand game in '95. The station also had audio of Childress talking of his anger about some comments that the national media had already crowned the Boys world champions.

Stay tuned...they play each other next season

Vikes should have went for 2 :mulli:.

I like the old Woody Hayes quote on why he went for 2 against Michigan late in a blowout game. His reponse:"because i couldn't go for 3".

This was different. The Vikings could have simply ran for the first down, and then knelt out the clock (classy thing to do). Instead, they gunned for TD or nothing, and left the 2 minutes on the clock. Blatant attempt to run up the score.

Yes, I say you can't bitch if you can't stop 'em, but I also think it's classless and bush league to pile on when you can simply end the game without scoring more.

If they wanted points with no intention of running time off the clock, they should have just kicked the FG. Going for the TD with 2 minutes to go and a 24 point lead really is asshattery.

Exactly what I was thinking. Exactly!

I actually wanted the Vikes to go for 2 on the point after as well. That way the 'pukes would have lost by 32 and we lost by 31:D

honestly that's why i don't mind it. brett has paid his dues against dallas. he's only defeated them in games when the cowboys were not very good. in any games that mattered the cowboys mopped the floor with him in the fashion that minny did with romo. In many ways favre deserved that game and the finish. if he loses next week at least he can say he's finally beat dallas in an important game.

and I remember that game buckybird. not just brett.....reggie white wanted to fight after that game he was so mad. that was the year the packers won the SB and dallas still beat them in a game that they kicked ALL field goals and won 21-7. they lined up to keep a record breaking field goal in the last seconds. i'm sure that game had to be frustrating for brett if he still brought it up LOL. even i forgot about it.

I don't like childress. he is more of a liar than jerry jones. I'd like to see those two square off in a mud wrestling cage match....no choking back lol.

I agree with Terry Bradshaw and The Cowboys. That kind of stuff is BUSH league. It was Bush league when Saban/Alabama just did it last week in the Title game and it is bush league in the NFL.

I agree. Farve is a tool and I am no cowboy fan.
