There are fans that are going to be elated about him finally signing but he isn't going to make an impact this season, and I would be concerned about hime being the next Mike Williams. Even when Crabtree wad drafted, he came with baggage. He has a lousy narcissistic attitude from what I've read and heard from multiple outlets, proven by his absurd hold out. No one knows the extent of that foot injury as reliable information hasn't come about it. He has never worked out with the team nor built rapport with his QB or other players on the team. I am almost certain he's never studied that playbook.

I could be wrong, but this guy has "bust" written all over him. On the bright side, at least he didn't screw up the draft slotting by getting paid more than Heyward-Bay

I think that this is great. #1 - He isn't ready to play yet and probably won't be for a while. #2 - The 49ers have a good thing going right now and I don't see this kid adding anything positive to that locker room. Finally, as the 49ers fans had pointed out, if he hadn't signed, it would have just given them more money to play with next year in FA.

Sounds like Crabtree is more than likely to play in the houston game.
The schedule sets up favorably for Crabtree and the 49ers because the team has a bye in Week 6. The down week should give the 49ers an opportunity to dedicate extra time to getting Crabtree ready.

The first game following the bye is at Houston, in Crabtree's home state

We shall see how much working out on his has helped him get ready for real games

Larry Fitzgerald, who arguably is the best receiver in the NFL, will tell you that he still doesn't run routes as well as he should. How long has he been in the NFL?

THIS is my reason for why he has held out so long. I believe his injury was worse than people thought and he was hiding it under the guise of contract problems.

From a 9er fan perspective, what do you think about this?
I'm ticked how this whole thing played out, but I'm glad that the 49ers didn't up wasting the pick on Crabtree.
Does he have the talent and mentality to be the panacea to their WR woes?
Most defenitely. Even if Crabtree would've sat the entire season, he would've been the first receiver taken in next years draft. I thought Dez Bryant would be a better receiver than Crabtree, but there are too many flaws in Dez Bryants game. (hands)
Is he going to be an impact this year despite being months behind schedule?
Too early to tell. One thing working in Crabtrees favor, is that Jimmy Raye playbook is vanilla, so Crabtree shouldn't have that much trouble learing the playbook.

Eugene Parker wasted everyone's time. Crabtree can help this team down the stretch. The interesting aspect is that he didn't play in a stretch the field offense at T Tech. 49ers don't do that either. He catches balls short and in the middle. It could be interesting for them.

ahhh rookie recievers never make much difference early on, being a Cards fan this may help as someone pointed out their chemistry is flowing right now. Maybe Crabtree is just going to be a disruption in that locker room, sweet hopefully he is a T.O. clone from some of the accounts I have read he is very similar!

If he had gone back into the draft he wouldn't have been the first WR picked just because teams wouldn't trust him.

I think it's great he finally signed but come on, the guy shows up in Santa Clara yesterday with MC Hammer as part of his entourage, Deion's an adviser you don't think the way he carried himself would have scared off a lot of other NFL teams if he was in the next draft?

I'm glad it's over, the kid has talent, I hope the foot is healed and we'll see what sort of impact he'll have.

It'll be interesting, they ran a lot of pro style timing routes in college where the ball is thrown before the WR turns and the QB has to trust the WR to run the right route. Crabtree was very effective in that system. Singletary doesn't run a lot of that, but they do a fair amount of outs where Hill throws it before the WR turns, that's the stuff where missing time can be a killer. If it's timed right it's impossible to cover, if the timing is wrong or the WR runs the wrong route, it's a defensive TD.

I'm impressed they got him signed, the feedback after the meeting yesterday seemed to be we hope to get something done but we don't expect it soon, so today is a bit of a surprise. Singletary isn't going to change overnight to a passing attack but it'll help when Crabtree is ready, one more weapon.

time to Break out the Crybabee Jerseys!! means nothing, I say he is hurt by week 9 and misses the rest of the season because of his inactivity during the past 7 or 8 months.

I am glad 49ers didnt cave even a little bit. It is the owners who put themselves into this rookie salary mess. Players and Agents asked for the ungodly numbers and the owners said yes, they only have themselves to blame and the only way out of it is for more owners to say screw you or put something in the new CBA. I say kudos to the 49ers in this regard.

As for Crabtree's impact does anyone know if the 49ers are going to use their roster exemption on him or not? I thought I heard they would get a up to 4 week exemption were he can practice and everything but he couldnt be on the offical 53 man roster. IMO he will make a limited impact but would be a nice little something extra if they make the playoffs or are in a playoff race the last few games of the season. Dont see much of anything happening with Crabtree for the next 6-8 weeks minimum.

There was another team? I only heard about the Jets being accused of tampering with Crabtree.
Yes. For some reason the 49ers and the league aren't announcing the team, some are suggesting that it could've been the Cowboys....

Come on, like Jerry Jones would ever do something like that to bring in a big name player.

It'll be interesting to see how much of a circus Singletary will put up with. The entourage might not get to ride the bus:D.I can see another grab your helmet and take it with you moment on the horizon. Can the 9ers risk losing one element to that basic Jimmy Raye offense they already have going?

To take a player off the field and put the rookie on the field is gonna be very high risk. Will it have a high reward to go with it?Can't take risks taking balls away from Bruce.Plus you just finally got your tight end playing up to half of his promise before his draft. Its gonna be interesting.

Torry Holts rookie year he won the Superbowl with Ike Bruce. Can it happen again?:D Is Bruce willing to teach this kid is gonna be the key?You won't learn how to run routes better from anyone else.Plus Ike can teach you how to fall down after the catch to avoid the hit.:)

that was this draft though, he hadn't held out for months and didn't have Deion speaking for him and apparently MC Hammer advising him at the time.

If the Jets were looking at the 2010 draft, they'd have had some concerns.

They might still have taken him but no guarantees.

Rich Gannon worked a Raiders game recently, during the game they were talking about Heyward-Bey and he said while so far he's not played well, given that everyone wanted them to take Crabtree it doesn't look so bad. The play by play guy asked him if he thought Crabtree was making a mistake and he said of course he is, a huge mistake, and the go back in the draft option his agent and advisors are selling him is a bad idea, he won't get picked as high next year, teams will be afraid to pick him.

and didn't have Deion speaking for him
After Deion spoke, there were rumors that Eugene Parker was saying that teams were willing to offer Michael Crabtree a 40 million dollar contract.
and apparently MC Hammer advising him at the time.
MC Hammer is Eugene Parkers friend, plus helped out smoothed out the contract.

I think they would've.....but who knows.

Wow!! Gannon said that? Heyward-Bey pick doesn't look so bad..hmmm.....okay.
I wonder who is going to get more catches this year? Crabtree or DHB?
