I would love McCoy on the cheap to pair with DJ. In a down year, he still had 34 receptions out of three backfield.
I don't think McCoy and cheap will be in the same sentence except for this thread!

Marshall and Myers seem to be top of mind targets for the Cards. Will see what the front office decides sifting through the rubble by end of the weekend

Being first on waiver wire just gives you first chance at others trash.

Teams don’t cut talented players that can help them win.
Plus the notable players cut for cap reasons most likely will be vested so the claim order doesn't mean a thing.

We just cut a guy Keim traded for...why are we assuming he is even capable of finding anything good in the league dumpster?

There are so many cut players to sift through... Keim & staff have their hands full trying to watch film on guys to claim.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...g-as-all-32-teams-cut-down-to-their-final-53/

There are a few vested veterans that could potentially help us (hopefully cheaply):

CB - Captain Munnerlyn (released by the Bills)
CB - Marcus Cooper (Jets)
CB - Orlando Scandrick (Eagles)
DE/OLB - Sam Acho (Bills)
LB - Brandon Marshall (Raiders, formerly Denver)
OL - Stefen Wisniewski (Eagles)

Waiver?
DE - John Franklin-Meyers (Rams)
ILB - Stephone Anthony (Jets) - I don't know if this guy ever played well in the NFL, but he was a high draft pick a few years ago.
LB - Eli Harold (Eagles) - same as above
CB - De'Vante Harris (Tampa Bay) ?
OT - Will Holden (Seattle) - Better than Miles?

Practice Squad QBs that could be better than Anderson/Kanoff:
QB - Kyle Lauletta (Giants)
QB - Deshone Kizer (Packers)
QB - Manny Wilkins (Packers)
QB - Paxton Lynch (Seattle)
QB - Geno Smith (Seattle)

I think the Cards are eyeing Anderson for the practice squad, and had to release him as a necessary evil to get him there... hope he clears waivers

By and large, true, but there are always a few exceptions (i.e. unique skill-set, extenuating circumstance, position overload etc).

It's up to a competent scouting dept. to separate the guys who can help us from those who cannot.

I like what I saw of Drew Anderson as well.

I understand that it only takes ONE team to like him, but that aside, I would think that it's a sure thing that Anderson clears waivers.

No problem with Anderson on PS. But you never know whether KK views QB prospects through the same lense as we do &/or whether there's a QB on the open market that he likes better than Drew.

Willie Henry and Gerald Willis are options too

Capitain Munnerlyn is a veteran CB who has been productive over the years, just 31, gritty player
