I don't think there is a NFC least coach who should feel secure.

Chip was doomed the second he started making personnel decisions.

Probably has as much to do with the way he handling personnel as it does the one bad year. Maybe they'll actually figure out a way to use DeMarco Murray now.

Wow. One bad season?

Yes but the decline was huge and Chip doesn't believe he screwed anything up.

For me it's an easy decision for Lurie because Chip has proven he is not a leader of men.

Forget the FA blunders and the ongoing back slide for a defense from bad to horrible or his refusal to even consider parts of his "system" may need tweaking.

It's the fact that he simply doesn't connect with his players. Too many ex players saying that Chip doesn't relate to them or even say hi when he passes them in a hallway.

BA has the Cards jumping through hoops for him because he cares about them and knows how to relate and connect with them. Chip is the anti BA IMO and that's not something he can or seems willing to change so he gets fired.

To me that is just something you have or you don't. It takes a lifetime to develop the skills to connect to people the way that BA does and some people just don't have it in their DNA to be able to do it at all.

Great college coach and that is where he belongs. Titans would be dumb to hire Kelly. Best move for him would be to sit out this next season and see the line of college teams bidding for him to run their program in 2017.

I agree that BA has it in his DNA and has been developing this skill his entire life.

Chip doesn't seem to have much if any people skills. Tom Coughlin had a similar issue but worked hard on improving his people skills and did it enough to win a couple of SB's. Difference is Coughlin realized he had to improve and worked to do so, Chip is an arrogant ass who doesn't see this huge hole in his swing.

I'm not surprised he's fired. He got rid of some of their marquee players and they have had embarrassing losses in the last month of this season..

What is much more surprising to me is how Jeff Fisher has had a long and proven history of this teams underachieving (except for a couple of seasons) and he just doesn't get fired.

Wanted to address the two points I quoted (apologies for removing your other fine points).

Yes, the decline was huge. He took Andy Reid's team his first year and did well, but steadily declined every year after. When he had the reigns this year, he exploded that team in a bad way. He thought it was plug and play any player and that doesn't happen in the NFL. You can't play 2 or 3 QB's and all 3 RB's and expect to be successful. I thought his up-tempo system was innovative in the NFL (It's not original, reminded me of the run and gun with Jim Kelly frankly, but even that wasn't successful when you talk rings), but you can't do that when you don't have depth on defense, because those 3 and outs leave a defense totally gassed by halftime.

Regarding BA having his team jumping through hoops, there's one thing I wanted to address regarding that, in terms of making dudes feel good. Being a players coach isn't about making them feel good. It's about making them better. They're grown men and do this for a living. They're thinking about wives and kids. Anyone who can make them better, who can improve their game, that's a player's coach. It isn't a rah-rah type thing. He grinds them like dogs during the week, and when they play well he tells them, but it's not like he's telling them how great they are, what he's telling them is how great they can be.

I bet he's partying like it's 1999. :D. I would because he's arrogant, alienates his players & I'd bet most hate the man as a person.

EDP is a puss. I'd rather read this forum than watch some video of a dude living in his mom's basement.
