Is this a thing? Draft Kings and Fan Duel? I had no idea. It's not like I've seen 9 BILLION commercials for it so far during football season.

I mean seriously, what is the freaking advertising budget for these companies? Do people think they are really going to get rich off this? They obviously aren't paying that much money out if they can afford to sponsor EVERY NFL GAME and the halftime show, and the instant replay and the coaches challenge, and the first timout of every quarter...

Now if you'll excuse me I have to take a bathroom break, brought to you by Draftkings.com.

Every compulsive gambler thinks they are gonna win. I have friends who spend 20-40 bucks a game on the 50/50 raffle and they plan on how they will spend their winnings. But they never win.

FanDuel spent more than $16 million on advertising during the first week of October, the lawsuit said.

Thanks for posting! Mind boggling. I knew it would be atleast that much. I mean we've all heard how expensive it is to do even a 30second commercial during an NFL game, they basically turned the NFL into the Draft Kings Football League.

I hope this gets scaled back one way or another. I dont like being THAT inundated with ads for one or two companies. Like watching the ALCS and seeing a Viagra commercial literally every break.

Really? Why advertise FD then now start up a class action suit? Bet he didn't get what he wanted from them and this is his way of getting it?

Don't speak any French but doesn't Pierre Garcon = Pete Waiter? At least that's what my wife calls him.

New York sends cease-and-desist notices to DraftKings, FanDuel

http://espn.go.com/chalk/story/_/id...s-gambling?ex_cid=sportscenterFB&sf15148343=1

New York attorney general Eric Schneiderman declared Tuesday that daily fantasy sports constitute illegal gambling in his state and sent cease-and-desist notices to game operators DraftKings and FanDuel in a significant blow to the embattled, billion-dollar industry.

Schneiderman demanded DraftKings and FanDuel, the two industry giants, stop accepting "wagers" from New York residents and discontinue operations in the state.

"Our review concludes that DraftKings'/FanDuel's operations constitute illegal gambling under New York law," Schneiderman wrote in the letter obtained by ESPN's David Purdum and Darren Rovell and ABC News.

Not surprised that the Socialist Republic of New York is the first to take a hard line like this.

It's gambling plain and simple. To call it anything else is nonsense. Draft Kings and Fan Duel will start making deals with states to continue operations somehow as long as the states get their cut.

I just want my pre game shows back. Remember the good ole days (like 2 years ago), when there was MAYBE 5 minutes per hour dedicated to fantasy football?????

With the networks now slobbing all over the 100 million these sites have paid thus far in ad revenue, watching football is becoming very unpalatable.

Yea, I can't stand that the NFL Gameday highlight show that now has the right side of the screen taken up with scrolling fantasy stats. I don't see how it is helpful. They are already tallied at the site where you manage your team. Why do I have to be subjected to meaningless numbers filling up the screen?

100% agree. I play fantasy football not for money but I play but I don't want to be inundated with that stuff all the time like they do now.

I have my teams open and I check the matchups during the day, that's enough.

If you play for money it wouldn't be too much it goes down to the wire every Monday night for lots of differences in the cash you make.

I don't think it should be banned but it will be which is makes sense given what it is.

I figure this is why they blitzed everything with the marketing so they could make as much cash as possible before either being shut down or regulated in some way.

I have been in the money two weeks in a row now!

It's a sad state of affairs when FF Bs is on half the time when I tune into NFLN.

The snowball is just getting started down the hill. In today's paper I read an article that Pennsylvania is now looking at regulating these sites as gambling sites. Not only do states want a piece of the action they want to collect taxes on the winnings. How many people claim their winnings? Do these sites issue 1099s to everyone that won money at the end of the year? With the success of these sites, states are starting to see a cash cow.
