Whose decision was it to close the roof for tonights game? I somehow just don't get why the roof is always closed. They built the stadium with a retractable roof and its never opened it seems. It was 70 degrees in Phx yesterday and yet the roof was closed. I get that KW likes a dome, but the frikken thing was open last week against the Rams

It doesn't seem to showcase how awesome the stadium really is.

It was a total waste of money to build it with an opening roof if they never open it. It doesn't need to open if the field rolls out anyway.

When they were building it they made it seem like it would be closed for the first couple of games - the warmer weather that some fans whined about - and open all the rest of the time.

Football is better outdoors or at least in an open-air stadium, IMHO.

First off you shouldn't say they "never" open it because thats just not true.

Secondly Michael Bidwill stated why it was closed this last week. He stated that in the areas that sun pokes through it is 15-20 degrees warmer in those seats and makes it uncomfy for the patrons.

I wonder how "uncomfy" the Bills fans were yesterday in that blizzard.

For the Fiesta Bowl, supposedly FOX wants it closed. They say it makes the lighting easier to handle. I'm not sure I buy that, but that's what was said on the radio today.

BS! Fox broadcast from this facility every Sunday.
In fact, the same technical crew worked the Cards game yesterday.
Did you notice the robotic camera working yesterday? They don''t do that for secondary games (Dallas was primary).
The roof open or closed, has no effect on camera lighting (by design) and whoever said so is full of it.

I was there, it was closed. I think they had it open during the day though and closed it some time before kickoff.

On a side note, BCS has ruined these games with all of their advertising and TV timeouts. The game was stopped so many times no one could gain any momentum.

We built a dome just so the fans can be "comfy"

FACT!

If you cannot be "comfy" in Arizona in UOP with the roof open then you are a complete wuss who will never be happy with the venue and should stay home and watch the game from the comfort of your own recliner.

That's your opinion which you are entitled to. However it doesn't change the reason why the dome was built. Bidwill with his comments on Sunday are generally keeping up with that reason.

That dome is nice inside open or closed this time of year.

The Cards keep the roof closed for the noise advantage. I have no idea why or who chose to have it closed during the Fiesta Bowl.

snow is fun, uncomfy hot is not.

LOL, snow is fun for about 15 minutes....3 hours of sitting in it? Not so much, but that is from an AZ native that can pick and choose when she wants to be "in the snow". I must be a wuss. :)

it's a shame it's not open more often - i've been in there twice with it open, the 1st time it was no issue

this year our seats swapped to the east side of the stadium - there was a time where the glare was pretty bad and even with sun glasses it was kind of hard to see ..... holding the program like a hat visor cleared it up and I was able to remove my sunglasses

lesson learned - wear a hat if the roof is open

as far as temperature differences ... 15-20 degrees couldn't be more false

it's 70 and sunny - it feels like 70 and sunny - other areas feel like 70 and shaded

Glare wouldn't be a problem with a night game. However, its not anywhere near 70 degrees at 8 or 9 oclock at night in Glendale. 50-55 would be more like it. So it would mean carrying a jacket to the game. We do that for post game tailgating now so it shouldn't be that big a deal other than maybe slowing down things at the security checks.

definitely - i was speaking in the wider context, but it should of been good for last night as well

a light jacket or a sweatshirt for most and they would be comfortable

i think we get a little goofy out here with weather .... i remember during the superbowl a lot of the local leaders were upset because it was kind of rainy and temps were running in the high 50s to low 60s ...... even I was grumbling about the lousy weather

until I went to the NFL experience and overheard all those visitors from out of town on their phones bragging about how nice it was - "dude it's like 60 here, it's great!"
