A lot of folks complained about this guy too, but he was a decent backup who filled decently well when needed the last seasons.

Cody Barton replacement.

I will say this. The FO are good at finding upside depth guys for little money like Colon. Curhan was drafted as a tackle but never really had the foot speed or balance for the NFL level. You can see in the reply here Brandon Thorns draft profile in reply. Say he's a mauling, high effort guy with limited athleticism that would be more suited to Guard.

But can also play tackle in a pinch so it's a good depth piece. Like Barton, likely a camp bod/ practice squad guy you keep around for depth.

Not sure I see “mauler” there, but not hideous tape.

this smells like a back up swing line player to me.

Which begs to question- are we just hoping that Isiah Adam’s or a new draft pick takes the leap to being a quality starting guard? Not saying he can’t and hope he does- but seems like a real leap of faith with no net below. Given the position we are in regarding the nfc west- would have loved monti to be more aggressive in at least attempting to upgrade this hole.

Looks like the 2024 8-9 Arizona cardinals offense was good enough for monti

1. We are at the finishing stages at the 1st wave of the off-season - out of 5… perhaps a bit too soon to conclude anything. Brown wasn’t added till the 5th wave of the off season last season.

2 Adams still rated as the 5th best G in the NFC west

3. I definitely expect Adam’s to improve like all OL do during the first three years.

4 Monti tried to sign Fries and failed. He was willing to pay 15M+ for an elite G. Clearly still a focus area. But interesting enough, he doesn’t seem like he had any interest in the other FA guards.
